Biomimetic nanofibrous scaffolds targeting multiple dysfunctional processes provide a multi-pronged strategy to restore functions and regenerate the damaged tissue. This study investigates a strategy of combining a regenerative component, Type I collagen Peptide (CP), along with a nitric oxide donor, S-Nitrosoglutathione (GSNO), in the form of nanofibrous scaffold to address the non-healing diabetic ulcer. Silk Fibroin-Polyvinyl alcohol (SF-PVA) nanofibrous scaffold is used as a carrier for delivering functional moieties.

Development of biomaterials for tissue engineering applications is of great interest to meet the demand of different clinical requirements. The wound heal dressing biomaterials should necessarily contain well-defined therapeutic components and desirable physical, chemical and biological properties to support optimal delivery of therapeutics at the site of the wound. In this study, we developed collagen-silica wound heal scaffold incorporated with the extract of Cynodon dactylon, characterized and evaluated for its wound heal potential in vitro and in vivo against collagen (Col) and Collagen-silica (CS) scaffolds that served as controls.

Collagen is a unique protein abundantly present in the connective tissues of mammals and widely used for biomaterial preparation. In this study, we synthesized and characterized collagen-fucoidan blend films for tissue regenerative properties. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) were used for thermal analysis of the blend films, and the films exhibited higher thermal stability and denaturation temperature (T) than those of native collagen due to intramolecular hydrogen bonding interaction between collagen and fucoidan, which was analyzed by FTIR spectroscopy.

Ulcerative colitis, particularly the chronic persistent form is characterized by the presence of active inflammation and extensive areas of ulceration in the colonic mucosa. The existing treatment protocol aims at only reducing intestinal inflammation, rather than targeting mucosal ulceration. In this study, type I collagen and its daughter peptides called collagen hydrolysate, highly popular reconstructive materials for tissue engineering applications, are hypothesized as healing matrices to target the recuperation of internal mucosal ulceration.

The success of a tissue engineering scaffold depends on a fine balance being achieved between the physicochemical and biological properties. This study attempts to understand the influence of silica concentration on the functional properties of collagen-silica (CS) composite scaffolds for soft tissue engineering applications. Increasing the ratio of silica to collagen (0.

Hypertension (HT) is a prevailing risk factor for cognitive impairment, the most common cause of vascular dementia; yet, no possible mechanism underlying the cognitive impairment induced by hypertension has been identified so far. Inhibition of PDE-4 has been shown to increase phosphorylation of cAMP-response element binding protein in the hippocampus and enhance the memory performance. Here, we examined the effects of PDE-4 inhibitors, rolipram and roflumilast, on the impairment of learning and memory observed in hypertensive rats.

Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) have been investigated as a potential target for treating invasive breast cancers. The chemotherapy for breast cancer is often prescribed as a combination of drugs. The present study investigates a novel strategy of combining a MMP inhibitor, Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), along with an anticancer drug, Paclitaxel (PTX), in the form of a liposomal co-delivery system.

Collagen is one of the most widely used biomaterial for various biomedical applications. In this Research Article, we present a novel approach of using collagen hydrolysate, smaller fragments of collagen, as an alternative to traditionally used collagen scaffold. Collagen hydrolysate composite scaffold (CHCS) was fabricated with sol-gel transition procedure using tetraethoxysilane as the silica precursor.

Development of a bio-composite using synergistic combination is a promising strategy to address various pathological manifestations of acute and chronic wounds. In the present work, we have combined three materials viz., mupirocin as an antimicrobial drug, sol-gel processed silica microsphere as drug carrier for sustained delivery of drug and collagen, an established wound healer as scaffold.

A sensitive and high-throughput LC-MS/MS method has been developed and validated for the combined determination of esomeprazole and naproxen in human plasma with ibuprofen as internal standard. Solid-phase extraction was used to extract both analytes and internal standard from human plasma. Chromatographic separation was achieved in 4.

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory disease that primarily affects the colonic mucosa. Mesalamine had been established as a first line drug for treating mild to moderate UC. A continued availability of the drug for treatment of damaged tissues remains a great challenge today.

A high-performance liquid chromatographic assay with tandem mass spectrometric detection was developed to simultaneously quantify fluoxetine and olanzapine in human plasma. The analytes and the internal standard (IS) duloxetine were extracted from 500 μL aliquots of human plasma through solid-phase extraction. Chromatographic separation was achieved in a run time of 4.
