Objective: Recently, angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) gene has emerged as a potential candidate gene for susceptibility to SARS-CoV-2 infection. We investigated whether ACE2 G8790A (rs2285666) polymorphism could be a genetic marker for susceptibility to COVID-19 and disease severity in Egyptian children and adolescents.
Methods: This was a prospective case-control study included 580 cases diagnosed with COVID-19, and 580 matched control children and adolescents.
Introduction: Management of patients with large aortic arch aneurysms who are considered high risk for frozen elephant trunk technique have been challenging, especially when they have a dilated ascending aorta (AA) that precludes total endovascular branched repair (arch BEVAR). A viable option in our armamentarium is wrapping of the AA (AW), and zone 0 Ishimaru TEVAR.
Methods: Retrospective analysis of our aortic database from 2013 to 2024 to select high-risk patients with aortic arch aneurysm that had an AW and TEVAR.
The preoperative fabrication of well-contoured, computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD-CAM), custom healing abutments is essential for guiding soft tissue healing and saving chairside time. This dental technique involves a fully digital workflow to fabricate a CAD-CAM custom healing abutment that relies on preoperative digital implant planning. The healing abutment is designed with an optimal emergence profile that can predictably direct the anatomy of the peri-implant mucosa.

Alogliptin (ALO) is a highly selective dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitor, but its role in male reproductive function remains debated. The study was designed to evaluate and compare the potential of ALO in mitigating MSG-induced testicular toxicity in juvenile and adult male rats.

However, the impact of OCT versus IVUS on clinical outcomes and periprocedural complications is unclear.
Aims: To perform a meta-analysis of all vetted randomized controlled trials comparing OCT-guided versus IVUS-guided percutaneous coronary intervention.
Continuing our search for metal drugs with markedly higher toxicity to cancer cells than to normal cells, we evaluated the effect of 2,2'-bipyridine (bpy) as a co-ligand in the compounds [Cu(μ-O,O'-NO)(L-Arg)(bpy)]NO} (1) and [CuCl(L-Arg)(bpy)]Cl·3HO (2) (L-Arg = L-arginine), on DNA interaction, cytotoxic and antiproliferative activity, compared to the effects induced by other co-ligands i.e. 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) and SCN ions, in similar Cu(II) compounds we have studied previously.

Birds and rats play a crucial role in fish-borne zoonotic trematode transmission since they serve as natural and experimental hosts. This study aimed to update the epidemiological information, morphological description, molecular identification and gene expression of two distinct heterophyid metacercariae in Giza, Wadi Al-Rayan, and Lake Manzala, Egypt, whereas various heterophyid infections could be expected.

The modification of the traditional procedure by using FeO nanoparticles led to enhancement of the yield of the desired candidates to 78-93% in approximately half reaction time compared with 58-79% without catalyst. The products were fully characterized using different analytical and spectroscopic techniques.

Accurately identifying the parasite vector is crucial for developing an effective control plan for a particular infection. This study focused on morphologically identifying two Hyalomma species (H.

Myxosporeans are among the fish parasites that affect fish productivity, as they impact fish growth and reproduction, resulting in large fish deaths in farms and hatcheries. This study has been focused on morpho-molecular identification for the myxosporean parasites infecting Nile tilapia from three governorates in Egypt and assessment of gene expression of different cytokines (Interleukin-1βeta (IL-1β), major histocompatibility complex class II (MHC-II), and clusters of differentiation 4 (CD-4) and 8 (CD-8)) in tissues.

Renal osteodystrophy is among the causes of these fractures that should be kept in mind. We report a case of a young female who presented with bilateral hip pain and was found to have bilateral femur neck fracture due to renal osteodystrophy.

Egyptians are becoming more interested in owning and raising pets; however, most of them lack essential awareness about the risk of zoonotic parasites that could be transmitted. The objective of the present investigation was to evaluate the degree of awareness Egyptian pet owners possess concerning zoonotic parasitic diseases, the risk of transmission, and preventative measures. A cross-sectional study was conducted using an e-survey.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a promising approach to enhance fat graft survival and subsequently improve the outcome. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of enriching fat graft with PRP for delayed correction of deformities after conservative surgery for breast cancer regarding esthetic outcome and incidence of complications.

Purpose: The purpose of this randomized controlled trial was to investigate the prosthetic efficacy of definitive posterior single ISRs fabricated after scanning using a scannable healing abutment-scan peg (SHA-SP) in comparison with a conventional scan body (CSB). The time for data acquisition, quality of proximal and occlusal contacts, and relative occlusal force of ISRs were measured.

Methods: Two cohorts of heart transplantation (HT) recipients were chronologically defined as follows: the Dual Monitoring Cohort (DMC) from January 1990 to December 1997 included patients who underwent routine EMB and Doppler echocardiography within 24 hours for ACR surveillance; and the "Echo-First Cohort" (EFC), including patients transplanted from January 1998 to December 2018 with Doppler echocardiography as first-line approach for ACR surveillance.
Background: The lateral intercostal artery perforator (LICAP) flap aims at replacing the excised breast lump with axillary tissue rich blood supply. The purpose of this study is to report the initial results of a modification LICAP flap technique in terms of intraoperative technical feasibility and short-term cosmetic outcomes in the early postoperative period.
Methods: Modified LICAP flap technique was performed on 36 female patients with pathologically proven BC located in the outer half of the breast in the period from June 1, 2021, to April 30, 2022.
Smart cities, as well as smart homes research, are becoming of concern, especially in the field of energy consumption and production. However, there is a lack in the dataset that can be used to simulate smart city energy consumption and prediction or even smart homes. Therefore, this paper provides a carefully generated dataset for smart home energy management simulation.

Chemical shrinkage (CS) is an intrinsic parameter that may affect the early age cracking of paste, mortar and concrete. It is well known as the driving force of self-desiccation, autogenous shrinkage (AGS) and drying shrinkage. During the first stage of cement hydration (at the initial setting time), the CS and AGS are equal.
