The application of quality improvement concepts, strategies, and tools to enhance participation in clinical trials among Latino families.

Underrepresentation of people from racial and ethnic minoritized groups in clinical trials threatens external validity of clinical and translational science, diminishes uptake of innovations into practice, and restricts access to the potential benefits of participation. Despite efforts to increase diversity in clinical trials, children and adults from Latino backgrounds remain underrepresented. Quality improvement concepts, strategies, and tools demonstrate promise in enhancing recruitment and enrollment in clinical trials.

Parents' Perspectives on Early Relational Health: A Qualitative Study.

Objective: The American Academy of Pediatrics endorses a paradigm shift toward promoting early relational health (ERH) in pediatrics. Pediatric clinicians have a unique opportunity to promote ERH, yet little work has sought parents' perspectives on how clinicians can do so effectively. We sought to understand diverse parents' perspectives on ERH and the role of pediatric clinicians in supporting it.

Social Factors Influencing Utilization of Old Age Homes by Elderly in Urban Area of South Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Background: Currently, most old age homes in India are completely occupied. Nowadays, nuclear families are more than joint families, and due to various factors such as urbanization, the elderly are deprived of essential care at home and are moved from their own homes to old-age homes. With the increasing geriatric population, this study explored the various social factors influencing the elderly to reside in old age homes.

Advancing early relational health: a collaborative exploration of a research agenda.

Background: Reach Out and Read (ROR) is a multi-component pediatric literacy promotion intervention. However, few studies link ROR components to outcomes. We examine associations between receipt of (1) multiple ROR components and (2) clinician modeling, a potential best practice, with enhanced home literacy environments (EHLEs) among Latino families.

Effect of Frequency of Micro-osteoperforation on Miniscrew- supported Canine Retraction: A Single-centered, Split-mouth Randomized Controlled Trial.

Aim: The present study aimed at evaluating the increase in the rate of tooth movement by increasing the number and frequency of micro-osteoperforations (MOPs).

Materials And Methods: The study was a single-center, split-mouth, randomized controlled trial. A total of 20 patients were included in the study who had fully erupted maxillary canines with class I molar canine relationship and a bimaxillary protrusion that required the removal of both maxillary and mandibular first premolars.

Feasibility and Acceptability of an Online Family Literacy Program in an Under-Resourced Community During the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Objective: The objective of this study was to examine the feasibility and acceptability of an online family literacy program (FLP) among low-income Latino families during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Methods: We conducted a mixed methods pilot study. Latino parent-child dyads participated in an 8-week online FLP conducted on video conferencing software, developed through a cross-sector health care-education partnership.

Objective: Reach Out and Read (ROR) is an evidence-based early childhood intervention that has been implemented at scale, yet description of ROR implementation is inconsistent. This study engages implementation science to examine ROR delivery and site-level variation.

Methods: As part of an ongoing clinical trial, we conducted a mixed-methods study in 3 community health centers (CHCs) that serve low-income Latino families.

Challenges and Barriers to Providing Primary Care to Children of South Asian Origin: Pediatricians' Perspectives.

South Asian (SA) Americans have a high risk of metabolic and cardiovascular disease. Prevention efforts should start in childhood and should be culturally appropriate. We sought to understand the challenges and barriers that pediatricians face in providing care for SA children to inform professional education on culturally effective care.

Background: Reach Out and Read (ROR) is an evidence-based literacy promotion intervention that leverages the near-universal access to children of primary care practices to promote optimal child development. While several studies document ROR's effectiveness, its implementation remains understudied.

Objective: This scoping review examines the existing literature to better understand ROR implementation.

Ready and Healthy for Kindergarten: A Bilingual Family Literacy Program in Primary Care.

Purpose: To describe the development and pilot testing of a bilingual family literacy program (FLP) for dual language learners entering kindergarten implemented in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC).

Description: The Ready and Healthy for Kindergarten program is an English-Spanish bilingual FLP that uses four parent and pediatrician-prioritized health topics to introduce early English literacy skills to families and promote health behaviors that are important for school readiness while encouraging maintenance of Spanish. We developed an FLP manual, conducted a 16-week single-arm pilot study, and modified the FLP based on family feedback and observation.

A case report on dermal filler-related periorbital granuloma formation.

We report a case of a 49-year old East-Asian female who presented with delayed onset granuloma formation at the right medial lower eyelid area. The clinical and radiologic presentation with pathologic correlation following synthetic hyaluronic acid filler injection and its management are described along with a review of literature following dermal-filler injections types. Dermal-filler-related granuloma formation should be included in the differential diagnoses of periorbital inflammatory and mass lesions.

Gastrodia elata Blume (tianma) mobilizes neuro-protective capacities.

Tianma (Gastrodia elata Blume) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) often used for the treatment of headache, convulsions, hypertension and neurodegenerative diseases. Tianma also modulates the cleavage of the amyloid precursor protein App and cognitive functions in mice. The neuronal actions of tianma thus led us to investigate its specific effects on neuronal signalling.

Tianma (Rhizoma gastrodiae) is the dried rhizome of the plant Gastrodia elata Blume (Orchidaceae family). As a medicinal herb in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) its functions are to control convulsions, pain, headache, dizziness, vertigo, seizure, epilepsy and others. In addition, tianma is frequently used for the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders though the mechanism of action is widely unknown.

Phenotyping of tianma-stimulated differentiated rat neuronal b104 cells by quantitative proteomics.
