This paper presents an innovative approach to wireless cellular stimulation therapy through the design of a magnetoelectric (ME) microdevice. Traditional electrophysiological stimulation techniques for neural and deep brain stimulation face limitations due to their reliance on electronics, electrode arrays, or the complexity of magnetic induction. In contrast, the proposed ME microdevice offers a self-contained, controllable, battery-free, and electronics-free alternative, holding promise for targeted precise stimulation of biological cells and tissues.

Vehicle detection using data fusion techniques from overhead platforms (RGB/MSI imagery and LiDAR point clouds) with vector and shape data can be a powerful tool in a variety of fields, including, but not limited to, national security, disaster relief efforts, and traffic monitoring. Knowing the location and number of vehicles in a given area can provide insight into the surrounding activities and patterns of life, as well as support decision-making processes. While researchers have developed many approaches to tackling this problem, few have exploited the multi-data approach with a classical technique.

Background: Beyond causing significant morbidity and cost, musculoskeletal injuries (MSKI) are among the most common reasons for primary care visits. A validated injury risk assessment tool for MSKI is conspicuously absent from current care. While motion capture (MC) systems are the current gold standard for assessing human motion, their disadvantages include large size, non-portability, high cost, and limited spatial resolution.

Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2D) is commonly associated with an increasing complexity of multimorbidity. While some progress has been made in identifying genetic and non-genetic risk factors for T2D, understanding the longitudinal clinical history of individuals before/after T2D diagnosis may provide additional insights.

Methods: In this study, we utilised longitudinal data from the DARE (Diabetes Alliance for Research in England) study to examine the trajectory of clinical conditions in individuals with and without T2D.

Multimodal fusion approaches that combine data from dissimilar sensors can better exploit human-like reasoning and strategies for situational awareness. The performance of a six-layer convolutional neural network (CNN) and an 18-layer ResNet architecture are compared for a variety of fusion methods using synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and electro-optical (EO) imagery to classify military targets. The dataset used is the Synthetic and Measured Paired Labeled Experiment (SAMPLE) dataset, using both original measured SAR data and synthetic EO data.

Background: The disease burden of diabetes can have wide-ranging implications on patients' psychological well-being and health-related quality of life. Glycated haemoglobin targets are commonly used to guide patient management in diabetes to reduce the future risk of developing diabetes complications, but little is known of the psychological impact of glycated haemoglobin target-setting. This protocol describes a study to determine the feasibility of evaluating psychological outcomes when setting explicit glycated haemoglobin targets in people with diabetes.

The need to classify targets and features in high-resolution imagery is of interest in applications such as detection of landmines in ground penetrating radar and tumors in medical ultrasound images. Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) trained using extensive datasets are being investigated recently. However, large CNNs and wavelet scattering networks (WSNs), which share similar properties, have extensive memory requirements and are not readily extendable to other datasets and architectures-and especially in the context of adaptive and online learning.

Purpose: Prostate cancer is the second most prevalent cancer in US men, with about 192,000 new cases and 33,000 deaths predicted for 2020. With only a 31% 5-year survival rate for patients with an initial diagnosis of stage-four prostate cancer, the necessity for early screening and diagnosis is clear. In this paper, we present navigation accuracy results for Promaxo's MR system intended to be used in a physician's office for image-guided transperineal prostate biopsy.

Introduction: Hypogonadism is associated with poorer glycaemic outcomes/increased all-cause and cardiovascular morbidity/mortality in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Increasing CAG repeat number within exon-1 of the androgen receptor (AR) gene is associated with increased AR resistance/insulin resistance.

Methods: We determined in a long-term 14-year follow-up cohort of 423 T2DM Caucasian men, the association between baseline androgen status/CAG repeat number (by PCR then Sequenom sequencing) and metabolic/cardiovascular outcomes.

Background: Development of accessible cost-effective technology to objectively, reliably, and accurately predict musculoskeletal injury risk could aid the effort to prevent chronic pain and disability. Recent work on micro-Doppler radar suggests it merits investigation towards these goals. The micro-Doppler signals that are created can infer differences in gross movements such as walking versus crawling in military settings where direct vision is not possible.

Introduction: Recent studies have indicated that methylation of the LINE-1 elements is associated with an increased risk of worsening carbohydrate metabolism. It has been shown that overall DNA methylation of LINE-1 elements could be considered as a risk factor for T2DM and its complications, independent of other established risk factors.

Methods: A total of 794 T2DM individuals from Salford, UK were included in this study (60% men n = 470).

This paper describes a multichannel super-heterodyne signal analyzer, called the Spectrum Analysis Solution (SAS), which performs multi-purpose spectrum sensing to support spectrally adaptive and cognitive radar applications. The SAS operates from ultrahigh frequency (UHF) to the S-band and features a wideband channel with eight narrowband channels. The wideband channel acts as a monitoring channel that can be used to tune the instantaneous band of the narrowband channels to areas of interest in the spectrum.

Widely used medical imaging systems in clinics currently rely on X-rays, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound, computed tomography, and positron emission tomography. The aforementioned technologies provide clinical data with a variety of resolution, implementation cost, and use complexity, where some of them rely on ionizing radiation. Microwave sensing and imaging (MSI) is an alternative method based on nonionizing electromagnetic (EM) signals operating over the frequency range covering hundreds of megahertz to tens of gigahertz.
