Hexachlorocyclohexane (HCH), an organochlorine pesticide imposes several harmful impacts on the ecosystem. β- and δ-isomers of HCH are highly toxic, persistent, and recalcitrant to biodegradation, slow and incomplete degradation of β- and δ- isomers have been reported in a few strains.
