Mixed-precision Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) provide an efficient solution for hardware deployment, especially under resource constraints, while maintaining model accuracy. Identifying the ideal bit precision for each layer, however, remains a challenge given the vast array of models, datasets, and quantization schemes, leading to an expansive search space. Recent literature has addressed this challenge, resulting in several promising frameworks.

The potential release of metals, especially copper (Cu) during mining of seafloor massive sulphides (SMS), represents a potential toxicological threat to cold-water coral (CWC) habitats. Herein, we evaluated for the first time the response of the whip coral Viminella flagellum to short-term acute Cu exposure. Nubbins of V.

Deep-sea octocorals are common habitat-formers in deep-sea ecosystems, however, our knowledge on their early life history stages is extremely limited. The present study focuses on the early life history of the species aff. , a common deep-sea octocoral in the Azores.

The feeding biology of deep-sea octocorals remains poorly understood, as attention is more often directed to reef building corals. The present study focused on two common deep-water octocoral species in the Azores Archipelago, Dentomuricea aff. meteor and Viminella flagellum, aiming at determining their ability to exploit different food sources.

Jejunal diverticula (JD) are a rare medical entity. They are often unnoticed, until complications occur. We report herein three cases of such diverticula, analyzed retrospectively, and depicting some of these complications: small bowel obstruction due to enterolith in a giant diverticulum treated surgically, incidental intraoperative finding on an anastomotic jejunal limb affecting the surgical plan and diverticulitis with anemia.
