Surgically induced astigmatism and posterior corneal curvature changes following phacoemulsification.

Purpose: To primarily compare surgically induced astigmatism (SIA), total and posterior corneal curvature, pachymetry, and their stabilization after 2.2 and 2.8 mm clear corneal incision in phacoemulsification.

Prevalence of Astigmatism in Patients Undergoing Cataract Surgery at a Tertiary Care Center in North India.

Aim: To assess the demography, magnitude, and type of corneal astigmatism in patients undergoing cataract surgery in North India.

Methods: It is a clinic-based, cross-sectional, observational study. Keratometric values and demographic data were collected for eligible patients who had undergone phacoemulsification at a tertiary eye care center between January 2010 and December 2017, using a non contact, optical low coherence reflectometry (OLCR).

Comparative evaluation of two toric intraocular lenses for correcting astigmatism in patients undergoing phacoemulsification.

Purpose: To compare the efficacy of AT-TORBI plate haptic toric intraocular lens (IOL) (Carl Zeiss Meditec AG, Jena, Germany) and AcrySof loop haptic toric IOL (Alcon Laboratories, Inc., Fort Worth, TX, USA) for correcting preexisting astigmatism of ≥1 diopters (D) in patients undergoing phacoemulsification and to compare the rotational stability of these two toric IOLs.

A rare case of Enterococcus faecalis-induced orbital cellulitis and myositis.

Orbital cellulitis is an infection of soft tissue behind the orbital septum. Common pathogens isolated include Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, and Streptococcus pneumoniae. It is a straightforward diagnosis and usually responds to empirical treatment without any sequela.

Anterior segment ischemia following Hummelsheim procedure in a case of sixth nerve palsy.

A, 46-year-old Indian male, known hypertensive presented with left esotropia of 25  prism diopters (PD) after head injury in a roadside accident 9 months back. The deviation was constant in nature and was associated with complaints of diplopia in left lateral gaze. Traumatic sixth nerve palsy was diagnosed.

Results and complications of silicone frontalis sling surgery for ptosis.

Purpose: Frontalis suspension is the treatment of choice for severe blepharoptosis with poor levator function. Several materials are available for this purpose. Autologous fascia lata is considered best among naturally occurring materials; however, it may not be possible to harvest fascia lata in young children.

Comparative evaluation of cyanoacrylate and fibrin glue for muscle recession in strabismus surgery.

Purpose: To compare the safety and efficacy of fibrin glue and cyanoacrylate glue for refixating the recessed muscle to the sclera in patients undergoing strabismus surgery.

Methods: In this prospective, randomized, and interventional case series, there were 15 patients in each group. Two different types of glue were used for refixating the muscle to the sclera after its recession: fibrin glue (fibrin group) and cyanoacrylate glue (cyanoacrylate group).

Periocular metatypical cell carcinoma with scleral infiltration.

A 60-year-old male, laborer by occupation, presented with an ulcerative lesion of medial canthus in the left eye along with infiltration and adhesion of lids to globe. He had decreased vision and restricted extraocular movements. Exenteration with skin grafting was done.

Clinicopathological study of dermolipoma--a report of four cases.

Dermolipomas are congenital solid choristomas usually located in the superotemporal fornix, near the lacrimal gland and lateral rectus muscle. Retrospective analysis of four consecutive cases of dermolipoma reported between Jan 1994 and July 2005 was done. Three cases were males and one was female and in all the cases swelling was first noted in the early childhood.

Tubercular dacryoadenitis--a case report and review of literature.

A case of a 56 year old lady presenting clinically with a slow growing painless mass of the left lacrimal gland, the histopathplogical examination of which was consistent with a diagnosis of tubercular dacryoadenitis, is described. Tubercular dacryoadenitis is uncommon, with the diagnosis usually made on histological examination of the lacrimal gland. Other cases of tubercular dacryoadenitis reported in literature are also reviewed.
