Purpose: The Language ENvironment Analysis (LENA) technology uses automated speech processing (ASP) algorithms to estimate counts such as total adult words and child vocalizations, which helps understand children's early language environment. A new series of various aryl amide derivatives of imidazo[1,5-a]pyridine-1,2,4-thiadiazoles (15a-j) were designed, synthesized, and evaluated for their cytotoxic profiles against four human cancer cell lines such as breast cancer (MCF-7), lung cancer (A549), colon cancer (Colo-205), and ovarian cancer (A2780), via the MTT assay, with etoposide as the standard known chemotherapeutic agent. Five compounds, 15a, 15b, 15c, 15f, and 15j, exhibited more potent cytotoxic effects than did etoposide. The senescence phenotype is heterogeneous, as observed by the context-dependent differential expression of senescence markers. Here, we provide evidence to demonstrate an inverse relationship in the expression pattern of the two murine variants of p21 (p21v1, and p21v2) in aging and hemorrhagic shock. While an upregulation of p21v1 was observed following hemorrhagic shock injury, p21v2 was upregulated in the aged mouse.

It is generally assumed that contact angle hysteresis of superhydrophobic surfaces scales with liquid-solid contact fraction, however, its experimental verification has been problematic due to the limited accuracy of contact angle and sliding angle goniometry. Advances in cantilever-based friction probes enable accurate droplet friction measurements down to the nanonewton regime, thus suiting much better for characterizing the wetting of superhydrophobic surfaces than contact angle hysteresis measurements. This work quantifies the relationship between droplet friction and liquid-solid contact fraction, through theory and experimental validation.
