Neuropathies, which encompass a wide array of peripheral nervous system disorders, present significant challenges due to their varied causes, such as metabolic diseases, toxic exposures, and genetic mutations. This review article, focused on the critical role of neurotrophins in peripheral neuropathy, highlights the intricate balance of neurotrophins necessary for nerve health and the pathophysiological consequences when this balance is disturbed. Neurotrophins, including Nerve Growth Factor (NGF), Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF), Neurotrophin- 3 (NT-3), and Neurotrophin-4 (NT-4), are essential for neuronal survival, axonal growth, and synaptic plasticity.

A 37-year woman was presented with rashes, fever, cough, and dyspnea. In the past 3 months, she was on sulfasalazine for inflammatory polyarthritis and seronegative spondyloarthritis.

In India, enteric-coated iron tablets are administered to adolescent boys and girls to avoid adverse effects such as gastritis, which reduces compliance, but this may result in poor iron absorption. Data on the absorption of iron from enteric-coated ferrous sulphate tablets are lacking.

Marine macroalgae and their isolated chemical constituents have been found to possess potential antidiabetic activity and have proved beneficial in the treatment of diabetes. In this study the neuroprotective effect of polyphenols isolated from the red macroalga was evaluated in experimental diabetic peripheral neuropathy.

However, it has been over two decades that the syllabi have been revised by these regulatory agencies. Considering the dynamic character of pharmacology, it is essential to prepare a syllabus that caters to the contemporary needs of the academic institutions and pharmaceutical industry, the community.
