Arsenic (As) is a non-essential carcinogenic metalloid and an issue of concern for rice crops. This study investigated the effects of sulfur-loaded tea waste biochar (TWB) due to modification with sodium sulfide (SSTWB) or thiourea (TUTWB) on As stress and accumulation in rice plants. The results showed that sulfur-modified TWB improved plant morphology compared to plants grown in As-contaminated soil alone.

In response to global agricultural challenges, this review examines the synergistic impact of bioslurry and biogenic nanoparticles on soil amelioration. Bioslurry, rich in N, P, K and beneficial microorganisms, combined with zinc oxide nanoparticles synthesized through eco-friendly methods, demonstrates remarkable soil improvement capabilities. Their synergistic effects include enhanced nutrient availability through increased soil enzymatic activities, improved soil structure via stable aggregate formation, stimulated microbial activity particularly beneficial groups, enhanced water retention due to increased organic matter and modified soil surface properties and reduced soil pH fluctuations.

Will digitalised clinical guidelines be compatible with individualised and personalised patient care if the disease definitions and classifications used within them contain embedded preferences? Taking bone health as a case study, we found the dominant definition of osteoporosis installs the consensus preference judgement of a 1992 International Expert Committee in the form of a threshold cut-off on the bone mineral density continuum. We found that subsequent UK clinical guidelines follow suit on this diagnostic threshold, but also endorse preference-sensitive thresholds for interventions to prevent fractures, including ones underpinned by cost-effectiveness analysis. The resulting pre-emption of patient's preferences needs to be removed if 'computable' guidelines are to be reconcilable with personalised care.

Moral reasoning skills among medical students have regressed despite the implementation of ethics teachings in medical education curricula. This inability to retain moral reasoning capability is attributed to difficulty transitioning to the principled thinking stage of moral reasoning as well as worsening of ethical decision-making skills during clerkship education due to the "hidden curriculum."
