Total hip arthroplasty (THA) is a highly successful operation performed worldwide in increasing numbers for a wide range of indications. There has been a corresponding rise in the incidence of periprosthetic joint infection of the hip (PJIH), which is a devastating complication. There is a significant variation in the definition, diagnosis and management of PJIH largely due to a lack of high-level evidence.

However, long stems can be technically challenging to insert and can compromise bone stock for future revision. Introduction: The Monteggia fracture is a fracture to the proximal third of ulna associated with a radial head dislocation. Although this is well described and classified in adults, it is uncommon in children. Identifying growth plate trauma and subsequent surgical management are of critical importance.

Cost-Effectiveness and Patient Outcomes of Injectable Collagenase to Treat Dupuytren's Contracture.

Introduction Dupuytren's contracture is a disabling and progressive flexion contracture of the hand that is often treated by a surgical release. Collagenase clostridium histolyticum injection (CCH-I) was introduced to the UK in 2011 as an alternative and less invasive treatment for contracture. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the cost-effectiveness and patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) of treating Dupuytren's contracture with collagenase compared to surgery.

Anthropometric method for estimating component sizes in total hip arthroplasty.

Background: Preoperative templating is essential in total hip arthroplasty (THA) as it not only helps to facilitate the correct implant type and size but also determines the post-operative biomechanics. Templating is also increasingly important from a medico-legal perspective and recommended in the British Orthopaedic Association Guide to Good Practice. Although templating has become increasingly digitised, there are no simple anthropometric models to predict implant sizes in the absence of digital methods.

Outcomes of revision total hip arthroplasty using a vascularised anterior femoral window.
