Introduction: This matched cohort study aims to determine whether the presence of a spinal arthrodesis (SA) compromises outcome of total hip arthroplasty (THA) and whether the outcome is better if THA is performed before- (THA-1) or after- SA (THA-2).
Methods: This is a single centre, multi-surgeon, review of prospective data. Thirty-seven patients (47 hips) that had SA and 1° THA(s), formed the cases (26 THA-1; 21 THA-2).
Purpose: Although previously frozen shoulder was thought to resolve by two to three years, recent studies demonstrated the symptoms can remain for much longer. Manipulation under anaesthetic (MUA) has been shown to be successful in relieving pain and restoring function. Yet, concerns have been raised regarding its safety and the risks of complications.

Patients often have significant comorbidities that lead to unforgiving soft tissues, poor vascularity, and poor bone quality. This creates the high-risk scenario of poor wound healing and poor implant fixation.

In a semiconductor Fabry-Perot cavity operated with a low-intensity resonance wavelength, both intensity-dependent saturating phase-shift and thermal phase-shift occur, which are considered in the proposed logic operations. The VCSSA-based logics are possible using the saturable behavior of reflectivity under the typical operating conditions.

Background: Fusion of the first metatarsophalangeal joint is considered a `gold standard' procedure for arthritis and as a salvage procedure for previous failed surgeries. Recent biomechanical studies have shown that a combination of a plate and screw is the most stable construct. Only a few studies have evaluated this combination and they have small cohorts so we are presenting our larger series of patients.
