Cemento-ossifying fibroma is a benign fibro-osseous lesion arising from the periodontal ligament and has the potential to form cementum and bone in the periodontal ligament. Cemento-ossifying fibroma is a painless, pedunculated, or sessile, smooth exophytic growth arising attached to the gingival tissues. We present a case of cemento-ossifying fibroid epulis in the posterior maxilla attached to the interdental gingiva between the 26 and 27 region buccally in a 52-year-old female patient managed with surgical excision of the lesion, extraction of the involved teeth, curettage, and palatal obturator while under general anesthesia.

Also, the available objective predictors based on preoperative cross-sectional imaging were not prospectively studied.

Aim: To evaluate the accuracy of the pancreatic attenuation index (PAI) and pancreatic enhancement ratio (PER) for predicting CR-POPF following PD and its correlation with pancreatic fat fraction and fibrosis.

The present study investigated the role and alterations in levels of circulating cell-free nucleic acids (cfNAs) in PMICF before and after orthodontic loading.

A Comparative Study Between Septal Quilting Sutures Without Nasal Packing and Only Nasal Packing Post-septal Correction.

Septal correction is the commonest surgery by rhinologists worldwide. We aimed at studying the comfort level of the patient with standard postoperative nasal packing with Merocel and placing quilting sutures in septum leaving the nose unpacked in the postoperative period. We conducted the study in the tertiary care centre enrolling 82 patients in a quasi-randomised method of odd and even numbers placing them in the nasal packing group and the quilting group respectively.

Objectives Health literacy encompasses a broad skill set linked to patients' self-management ability and the complexity of their health care environments. Self-management in the context of multimorbidity is particularly challenging, placing patients at risk of poor clinical outcomes. This study aimed to explore the prognostic associations between health literacy domains, depression, and 12-month health care utilization and mortality in patients with diabetes and end-stage renal disease (DM-ESRD).

The peri-miniscrew implant crevicular fluid is analogous to gingival crevicular fluid, and its contents reflect the state of inflammation and health during the life of the miniscrews in the mouth. The stability of MSI is fundamental to its role as an anchorage. This study aimed to evaluate transforming growth factor-beta one (TGF-β1) of the peri-miniscrew implant crevicular fluid (PMICF), on implant insertion, pre- and post-loading of MSIs to find a clue to their role in the stability of MSI.

Friedreich's ataxia (FRDA) is an autosomal recessive neurodegenerative disorder caused by an expanded (GAA) trinucleotide repeat in the FXN gene. The extended repeats expansion results in reduced transcription and, thereby, decreased expression of the mitochondrial protein, frataxin. Given the ongoing drug trials, identification of reliable and easily accessible biomarkers for monitoring disease progression and therapeutic intervention is a foremost requirement.

Effect of Doxorubicin on Squamous Cell Carcinoma of Skin: Assessment by MRI Relaxometry at 4.7T.

Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of skin has no standard treatment regimen, resulting in recurrences/metastasis. Although, doxorubicin (Dox), an anthracycline antibiotic has demonstrated some degree of efficacy. Molecular imaging can help in assessment of treatment response and prognosis of SCCs.

Assessment of cell-free levels of iron and copper in patients with Friedreich's ataxia.

Friedreich's ataxia (FRDA), a progressive neurodegenerative disorder caused by trinucleotide (GAA) repeat expansion in frataxin (fxn) gene which results in decreased levels of frataxin protein. Insufficient frataxin levels leads to iron and copper deposits in the brain and cardiac cells. A total of hundred and twenty patients, suspected of FRDA were screened for the (GAA) repeats in the fxn gene and only confirmed patients (n = 25) were recruited in the study.

Clinical Utility of Multi-Energy Spectral Photon-Counting Computed Tomography in Crystal Arthritis.

Objective: To determine whether novel multi-energy spectral photon-counting computed tomography (SPCCT) imaging can detect and differentiate between monosodium urate (MSU), calcium pyrophosphate (CPP), and hydroxyapatite (HA) crystal deposits ex vivo.

Methods: A finger with a subcutaneous gouty tophus and a calcified knee meniscus excised at the time of surgery were obtained. The finger was imaged using plain x-ray, dual-energy CT (DECT), and multi-energy SPCCT.

The combined diabetes and renal control trial (C-DIRECT) - a feasibility randomised controlled trial to evaluate outcomes in multi-morbid patients with diabetes and on dialysis using a mixed methods approach.

Background: This cluster randomised controlled trial set out to investigate the feasibility and acceptability of the "Combined Diabetes and Renal Control Trial" (C-DIRECT) intervention, a nurse-led intervention based on motivational interviewing and self-management in patients with coexisting end stage renal diseases and diabetes mellitus (DM ESRD). Its efficacy to improve glycaemic control, as well as psychosocial and self-care outcomes were also evaluated as secondary outcomes.

Methods: An assessor-blinded, clustered randomised-controlled trial was conducted with 44 haemodialysis patients with DM ESRD and ≥ 8% glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c), in dialysis centres across Singapore.

Friedreich's ataxia (FRDA) is a multisystem disease affecting the predominately nervous system, followed by muscle, heart, and pancreas. Current research focused on therapeutic interventions aimed at molecular amelioration, but there are no reliable noninvasive signatures available to understand disease pathogenesis. The present study investigates the alterations of plasma cell-free microRNAs (miRNAs) in FRDA patients and attempts to find the significance in relevance with the pathogenesis.
