Article Synopsis
  • The study aims to establish clinical normative data for ulna length in children aged 1 day to 18 years across India, measuring various factors including age, sex, BMI, and hand dominance.
  • A total of 1,300 healthy children were analyzed, showing gradual ulna lengthening as they age, with significant differences in males at certain ages and a notable increase in length among obese children.
  • The findings indicate that age, gender, and geographical location influenced ulna length, but factors like BMI and hand dominance were not significant after maturity, providing valuable data for pediatric healthcare.

This study examines the effects of magnetic-field-dependent (MFD) viscosity on the boundary layer flow of a non-Newtonian sodium alginate-based nanofluid over an impermeable stretching surface. The non-Newtonian Casson and homogeneous nanofluid models are utilized to derive the governing flow and heat transfer equations. Applying Lie group transformations to dimensional partial differential equations yields nondimensional ordinary differential equations, which are then numerically solved using the spectral quasi-linearization technique.

Objective: To analyze the outcomes of hypofractionated stereotactic radiotherapy (HFSRT) for Spetzler Martin grades 4 and 5 arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) in a pediatric population.

Methods: Fourteen patients with Spetzler Martin (SM) grades IV and V large AVMs who underwent HFSRT between January 2013 and July 2019 were retrospectively reviewed. All patients received HFSRT at a dose of 30-36 Gy in 5 to 6 fractions.

Thyroglobulin must pass endoplasmic reticulum (ER) quality control to become secreted for thyroid hormone synthesis. Defective thyroglobulin, blocked in trafficking, can cause hypothyroidism. Thyroglobulin is a large protein (~2750 residues) spanning regions I-II-III plus a C-terminal cholinesterase-like domain.

Right heart thrombi can be seen in a minority of patients with acute pulmonary embolism and are associated with an increased mortality risk. The optimal treatment option comprises thrombolysis or surgical thrombectomy either with catheterbased interventions or with open surgery. Open right atrial thrombectomy is usually performed under cardiopulmonary bypass due to the need for concomitant pulmonary embolectomy.

Over the past decade, endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) has become an indispensable tool in the diagnostic armamentarium of the pulmonologist. As the expertise with EBUS-TBNA has evolved and several innovations have occurred, the indications for its use have expanded. However, several aspects of EBUS-TBNA are still not standardized.

Introduction: () are a longstanding hydrophyte belonging to the Pontederiaceae family and subfamily Trollioideae. It is classified as an invasive plant owing to its phenomenal growth and propagation and is often described as the worst aquatic plant. Natural antioxidants, such as phenolic compounds and flavonoids, have an increased protective effect against free radicals.

Background Melanoma is the most aggressive form of skin cancer, accounting for 3% of all malignant cancers. Phytochemicals and their related compounds are found in various parts of the plant and have a variety of pharmacological actions. The current research was intended to compare and evaluate the anti-proliferative action of methanolic extracts of roots and petioles against the Sloan Kettering Melanoma (SK-Mel-5) cell line.

Background: An increasing number of people are turning to herbal medicines in their search for innovative pharmaceuticals since they are effective treatments for a wide variety of conditions and traditional herbs are rich in bioactive chemicals. In this study, we looked at whether or not a petiole extract of Eichhornia crassipes preserved in methanol inhibited the proliferation of prostate cancer (PC3) cell lines.

Materials And Methods: Lakes in Ezhikkara, Ernakulum, Kerala, were the source of E.

Background: Extra axial abscess of the brain is a rare entity, moreover, extra-axial abscess concomitant with intraparenchymal purulent collections are scarcely reported in the literature. Etiology includes penetrating trauma, paranasal sinusitis, mastoiditis, craniospinal surgeries, and the rare spread of infectious agents through the hematogenous route.

Case Description: We present a case of a young male with Burkholderia pseudomallei Central Nervous System (CNS) melioidosis, forming abscesses in extra-axial and intraparenchymal planes without contiguity.

With the surge of COVID-19 pandemic, the world is moving towards digitization and automation more than it was presumed. The Internet is becoming one of the popular mediums for communication, and multimedia (image, audio, and video) combined with data compression techniques play a pivotal role in handling a huge volume of data that is being generated on a daily basis. Developing novel algorithms for automatic analysis of compressed data without decompression is the need of the present hour.

Encephaloceles, also known as meningoencephaloceles, are a group of neurological disorders characterized by herniation of the cerebral parenchyma along with overlying meninges through openings in the skull bone. They can be seen following congenital defect in neural tube closure or acquired defect in the skull bone. We report a case of acquired frontoethmoidal encephalocele presenting with drug-refractory epilepsy.

Ovarian carcinoma is one among the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women. Most commonly it metastasizes within peritoneal cavity by transcoelomic spread; distant metastasis to central nervous system through hematogenous spread is rare, and intramedullary spread is even rarer. Till date, only six reports have identified isolated intramedullary metastasis to spinal cord in a patient who were considered disease free on follow-up after treatment of primary disease; of which only two were in dorsal spine.
