Text extraction and document image segmentation using matched wavelets and MRF model.

In this paper, we have proposed a novel scheme for the extraction of textual areas of an image using globally matched wavelet filters. A clustering-based technique has been devised for estim ating globally matched wavelet filters using a collection of groundtruth images. We have extended our text extraction scheme for the segmentation of document images into text, background, and picture components (which include graphics and continuous tone images).

Impaired regulatory T-cell response and enhanced atherosclerosis in the absence of inducible costimulatory molecule.

Background: T-cell-mediated immunity contributes to the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis, but little is known about how these responses are regulated. We explored the influence of the inducible costimulatory molecule (ICOS) on atherosclerosis and associated immune responses.

Methods And Results: Bone marrow chimeras were generated by transplanting ICOS-deficient or wild-type bone marrow into irradiated atherosclerosis-prone, LDR receptor-deficient mice, and the chimeric mice were fed a high-cholesterol diet for 8 weeks.
