Background: Length of hospital stay (LOS) is an indirect measure of surgical quality and a surrogate for cost. The impact of postoperative complications on LOS following elective colorectal surgery is not well defined. Adult intussusception usually presents with nonspecific symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, nausea, vomiting, and a change in bowel habits. Although postoperative intussusception has been described in the pediatric population, there has been little description of it in the adult population. Postoperative intussusception has unique challenges, as hydrostatic reduction may compromise bowel anastomoses.
