Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been gaining significant attention due to their potential application in medicine. Here, we investigated the effect of zeolite imidazole framework-8 (ZIF-8) on neuro-behavioral parameters, histopathology, inflammation, and oxidative stress levels of rats' brain samples. Forty-eight male Wistar rats were injected by four injections of saline or ZIF-8 at different doses of 5, 10, or 20 mg/kg via the caudal vein.

Article Synopsis
  • Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common hormonal disorder affecting women's reproductive health, characterized by various symptoms such as irregular or absent menstrual cycles, excess androgen levels, and ovarian dysfunction.
  • The study involved 20 female Wistar rats divided into four groups, with one group receiving placenta-derived mesenchymal stem cells (PDMSCs) after inducing PCOS through a medication regimen; various health indicators were then assessed.
  • Results showed that PDMSCs improved ovarian health by increasing healthy follicle counts, balancing hormone levels, reducing insulin resistance, and enhancing lipid profiles compared to the non-treated PCOS group.

The pathophysiological link between diabetes and heightened propensity for the development of coronary heart disease (CHD) is well-established. Prevailing evidence confirms that small increases in low concentrations of high-sensitivity C reactive protein (hs-CRP) in the human body can determine the tendency of developing CHD. Additionally, glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) is a well-recognized biomarker to evaluate diabetes progression.

Metastasis is a significant clinical challenge responsible for cancer mortality and non-response to treatment. However, the molecular mechanisms driving metastasis remain unclear, limiting the development of efficient diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. Recent breakthroughs in cancer biology have discovered a group of small non-coding RNAs called tRNA-derived fragments (tRFs), which play a critical role in the metastatic behavior of various tumors.

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have been extensively used in various therapeutic applications over the last two decades, particularly in regenerative medicine and cancer treatment. MSCs have the ability to differentiate into mesodermal and non-mesodermal lineages, which makes them a popular choice in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Studies have shown that MSCs have inherent tumor-suppressive properties and can affect the behavior of multiple cells contributing to tumor development.

This study unveils the electrochemically-enhanced nanozymatic activity exhibited by borophene during the reaction of 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) and HO. Herein, the surface of the pristine borophene was first modified with the addition of thiocyanate groups to improve hydroxyl radical (•OH) scavenging activity. Then, the oxidation reaction of TMB was accelerated under applied electrochemical potential.
