Rhodium-catalyzed regio- and enantioselective coupling of tetrazoles with allenes are reported. Asymmetric construction of tertiary and quaternary allylic C-N bonds were achieved using a Rh(I)/JoSPOphos catalyst. This method permits the atom-economic synthesis of various valuable N(2)-allylic tetrazoles.

[Quality of sleep and selective attention in university students: descriptive cross-sectional study].

Introduction: Sleep quality not only refers to sleeping well at night, but also includes appropriate daytime functioning. Poor quality of sleep can affect a variety of attention processes.

Purpose: The aim of this investigation was to evaluate the relationship between the perceived quality of sleep and selective focus in a group of college students.

Asymmetric transformations involving 1,2-dicarbonyl compounds as pronucleophiles.

This article concentrates on the versatile nucleophilic reactivity of 1,2-dicarbonyl compounds in various asymmetric transformations. Although underexploited in comparison to their 1,3-dicarbonyl homologues, the presence of adjacent multiple reactive centres allows the selection of specific activation modes for enhancing the reactivity of these important ambident pronucleophiles. They can be involved in selective formation of C-C, C-O or C-N bonds leading to various optically active targets in the acyclic and cyclic series including three- to seven-membered ring systems.

Highly diastereo- and enantioselective organocatalytic michael addition of α-ketoamides to nitroalkenes.

The first organocatalytic enantio- and diastereoselective conjugate addition of α-ketoamides to nitroalkenes has been achieved using a bifunctional amino thiourea catalyst. In this new approach, the substrate amide proton plays a critical role in the formation of the Michael anti-adducts in high yields and high stereoselectivities. To illustrate the high synthetic potential of this methodology, the diastereo- and enantioselective synthesis of a hexasubstituted cyclohexane via a Michael-Michael-Henry cascade reaction is described.

One-pot asymmetric cyclocarbohydroxylation sequence for the enantioselective synthesis of functionalised cyclopentanes.

A new method has been developed for the enantioselective synthesis of highly functionalised cyclopentanes bearing up to three stereogenic centres with very high stereoselectivity. This one-pot process combines an enantioselective organocatalytic Michael addition with a highly diastereoselective [3+2]-cycloaddition-fragmentation step.

Direct determination of distribution volume and disappearance rate of native creatine kinase in humans.

Distribution volume (DV) and disappearance rate (Kd) of native creatine kinase (CK), parameters needed for enzymatic estimation of infarct size, have not been characterized in humans. Values for these parameters have been determined in experimental models and extrapolated for use in humans. During hemodynamic monitoring, 100 to 150 ml of enzyme-rich plasma was collected from 10 patients with acute myocardial infarction, stored at -30 degrees C for a maximum of 6 days, and then rapidly reinfused back to the same patient after return of CK serum activity to baseline levels.

Unlabelled: Of 335 consecutive patients (pts) admitted to the coronary care unit (CCU) for acute myocardial infarction (AMI), 34 (10%) evidenced complete heart block (HB). The overall inhospital mortality was 14% (47 pts) versus 39% of the HB group (13 pts). No previous conduction disturbances were documented in 58% of pts before appearance of complete HB.
