Lanthanum oxide was successfully synthesized by hydrothermal method by varying the reaction time such as 6, 12, and 24 h. In XRD, study confirms the presence of a hexagonal structure, and the phase remains the same at different times; the main goal is to assess the average crystallite size of prepared LaO nanoparticles, which was found in the range of 6 to 8 nm. An interesting observation from the XRD data was the apparent increase in crystalline nature as the synthesis time was extended.

In this research, the impact of the different zinc (Zn) concentrations on the physical and optoelectronic properties of BiS nanorods as self-powered and photodiode applications was investigated. The performance of P-N junction photodiodes has been for decades since they are crucial in energy applications. The structure, degree of crystallinity, and shape of Zn-doped BiS nanorods of various doping percentages formed onto the indium tin oxide (ITO) substrates by the dip coating technique are investigated using X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and SEM.

Significant aquifers around the world is contaminated by arsenic (As), that is regarded as a serious inorganic pollution. In this study, a biosorbent-based bio-filter column has been developed using two different plant biomasses (Colocasia esculenta stems and Artocarpus heterophyllus seeds) to remove total As from the aqueous system. Due to its natural origin, affordability, adaptability, removal effectiveness, and possibility for integration with existing systems, the biosorbent-based bio-filter column presents an alluring and promising method.

We investigate the nature of quantum criticality and topological phase transitions near the critical lines obtained for the extended Kitaev chain with next nearest neighbor hopping parameters and non-Hermitian chemical potential. We surprisingly find multiple gap-less points, the locations of which in the momentum space can change along the critical line unlike the Hermitian counterpart. The interesting simultaneous occurrences of vanishing and sign flipping behavior by real and imaginary components, respectively of the lowest excitation is observed near the topological phase transition.

Chemical patterning surfaces is relevant in several different domains of science and technology with exciting possibilities in electronics, catalysis, sensing, and photonics. Here, we present a novel strategy for chemical patterning of graphite using a combination of covalent and non-covalent approaches. Building on our previous work, where self-assembled monolayers of linear alkanes were used as sacrificial masks for directing the covalent anchoring of aryl groups to the graphite surface in sub-10 nm arrays, we present a modified design of a template alkane with alkoxy terminal groups which allowed better pattern transfer fidelity in comparison to simple linear alkanes.

An attempt is made to study the quantum criticality in non-Hermitian system with topological characterization. We use the zero mode solutions to characterize the topological phases and, criticality and also to construct the phase diagram. The Hermitian counterpart of the model Hamiltonian possess quite a few interesting features such as Majorana zero modes (MZMs) at criticality, unique topological phase transition on the critical line and hence these unique features are of an interest to study in the non-Hermitian case also.

The Kilkari programme is being implemented by the Government of India in 13 states. Designed by BBC Media Action and scaled in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare from January 2016, Kilkari had provided mobile health information to over 10 million subscribers by the time BBC Media Action transitioned the service to the government in April 2019. Despite the reach of Kilkari in terms of the absolute number of subscribers, no longitudinal analysis of subscriber exposure to health information content over time has been conducted, which may underpin effectiveness and changes in health outcomes.

The investigation and characterization of topological quantum phase transition between gapless phases is one of the recent interest of research in topological states of matter. We consider transverse field Ising model with three spin interaction in one dimension and observe a topological transition between gapless phases on one of the critical lines of this model. We study the distinct nature of these gapless phases and show that they belong to different universality classes.

A multi-physics model has been developed to investigate the effects of cellular level mechanisms on the electro-thermo-mechanical response of hydrated soft tissues with radiofrequency (RF) activation. A micromechanical model generates an equation of state (EOS) that provides the additional pressure arising from evaporation of intra- and extracellular water as well as temperature to the continuum level thermo-mechanical model. A level set method is used to capture the interfacial evolution of tissue damage with the level set evolution equation derived from the second law of thermodynamics, which is consistent with Griffith's fracture evolution criterion.
