Background: Compassion is an important ethical foundation of all healthcare professionals especially for nursing. However, there is little understanding of factors which could help and motivate nurses to deliver compassionate care in modern healthcare practices today. Moreover, a cultural context may affect the way compassionate care is delivered by healthcare professionals.

This study compared the efficacy of foot reflexology massage, foot bath, and a combination of them on the quality of sleep of patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). This quasi-experimental study was implemented on ACS patients in Iran.

This study aimed to determine the adolescent's knowledge and attitude toward pubertal health and his/her socio-demographic predictors.
Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on 1017 adolescent girls who were in the second and third grades of secondary schools in Tabriz, Iran, in 2013.
Background: Fear and fatalism have been proposed as factors affecting breast cancer screening, but the evidence is not strong. This study aimed to determine relationships of fear and fatalism with breast cancer screening behavior among Tabriz women in Iran.
Materials And Methods: In a cross- sectional study, 370 women referred to 12 health centers in Tabriz were selected with two-stage cluster sampling and data regarding breast cancer screening, fatalism and fear of breast cancer were collected respectively with a checklist for screening performance, Champions Fear and Pow Fatalism Questionnaires.
Background: The diagnosis of peritonitis as a complication of cirrhosis is an important clinical problem.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate serum C-reactive protein levels as a diagnostic factor for spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (SBP) in child patients with liver disease.
Methods: In this study, 150 children diagnosed with liver disease and ascites upon admission to Nemazee Teaching Hospital (Shiraz, Iran) were examined.
High energy planetary ball milling was applied to prepare sono-Fenton nanocatalyst from natural martite (NM). The NM samples were milled for 2-6h at the speed of 320rpm for production of various ball milled martite (BMM) samples. The catalytic performance of the BMMs was greater than the NM for treatment of Acid Blue 92 (AB92) in heterogeneous sono-Fenton-like process.

Background: Moving from one's own home to a communal aged care home is challenging for older people and may give rise to numerous psychosocial responses. The extent and intensity of such changes have rarely been explored in Middle Eastern countries.
Objective: This study aimed to assess any correlation between serum levels of homocysteine (Hcy) and markers of cerebral hemodynamics, endothelial dysfunction, and cognition impairment in patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI).
Methods: By a cross-sectional study, all clinical data and serum levels of homocysteine of 85 TBI patients were collected. The pulsatility indices (PIs) of the middle cerebral artery were recorded by transcranial color-coded Doppler ultrasonography and cerebrovascular reactivity was measured by the increase in middle cerebral artery flow velocity in response to 5% inhaled CO.
Background: Creatine monohydrate has beneficial effects on serum glucose. This study aimed to investigate the effects of creatine on serum biochemical markers and permeability of coronary arteries among diabetic rats.
Material And Methods: 32 Wistar rats, which weighed 150-200 grams were randomly divided into 4 groups including: group I, control; group II, creatine monohydrate; group III, diabetic rats; and group IV, diabetic rats + creatine.
Dispersions of lipid mixtures comprising long- and short-chain phospholipids (bicellar mixtures) can form small isotropically reorienting particles (bilayered micelles), magnetically orientable stuctures, or unorientable lamellar structures. Application of hydrostatic pressure can also induce interdigitation of the long-chain lipid components. In this work, variable-pressure H NMR was used to study the effect of head group charge on the barotropic behavior of bicellar mixtures.

However, the relationship between spiritual coping and adjustment to cancer diagnosis has not been well investigated among Iranian breast cancer patients.
Materials And Methods: This descriptive-correlational study was undertaken among 266 breast cancer patients referred to two educational centers in north-western Iran.
Purpose: The aim of the current study was to determine whether the anaerobic performance assessed by a modified Wingate test could account for the 1,500-m rowing ergometer performance in young competitive rowers.
Methods: Fourteen national-level adolescent rowers performed on a rowing ergometer i) a 30-s allout exercise (i.e.
We show that a thermally isolated system driven across a quantum phase transition by a noisy control field exhibits anti-Kibble-Zurek behavior, whereby slower driving results in higher excitations. We characterize the density of excitations as a function of the ramping rate and the noise strength. The optimal driving time to minimize excitations is shown to scale as a universal power law of the noise strength.

There is little understanding about how workplace issues impact provision of compassionate care in nursing practice. Therefore, it is important to address the workplace issues and organizational factors which may hinder compassionate care delivery within nursing practice.

One of the most fundamental concerns in wireless body sensor networks is accurate routing in order to send data promptly and properly, and therefore overcome some of the challenges. Routing protocols for such networks are affected by a large number of factors including energy, topology, temperature, posture, the radio range of sensors, and appropriate quality of service in sensor nodes.

At such, this is particularly relevant for the dynamics of polaritons, both for their internal dynamics between their light and matter constituents, as well as for the more conventional dynamics of two spatially separated condensates.

This study aimed to explore the lived experiences of nurse preceptors working with new nurses.
Method: This qualitative study used the hermeneutic phenomenological design to explore the experiences of six nurse preceptors working with new nurses in a tertiary pediatric teaching hospital in Northwest of Iran, who were recruited by purposive sampling.

The aim of this study was to determine whether TQ is able to bind directly to bilirubin, and whether TQ or liposomal formulation of TQ (Lip-TQ) can reduce cyclophosphamide (CYP)-induced liver toxicity, serum bilirubin level in mice. The binding of TQ with bilirubin was studied by UV-VIS, fluorescence and Near-UV CD spectroscopy.

Objective: Schizophrenia and other psychoses have devastating personal and social impacts and many efforts have been devoted to study prodromal syndromes for psychosis in order to achieve earlier detection and interventions. However, only few studies have been performed in developing countries on this subject, and there is a dearth of evidence in the Iranian population. In this study, we focused on conversion rate to psychosis and changes in prodromal symptoms in a group of first-degree relatives of patients with schizophrenia and to compare the conversion rate in those with and without prodromal symptoms as assessed by the Structured Interview for Prodromal Syndromes (SIPS) and Scale of Prodromal Symptoms (SOPS).
