Functional analysis of root-preferential oil palm metallothionein promoter in tobacco.

Root-specific or preferential promoters are essential to genetically modify plants with beneficial root traits. We have characterised the promoter from an oil palm metallothionein gene (EgMT) and performed a serial 5' deletion analysis to identify the region(s) essential for transgenes expression in roots. Stable functional characterisation of tobacco transgenic lines using the T generation showed that a deletion construct, designated as RSP-2D (1107 bp), directed strong GUS expression at all stages of root development, particularly in mature roots.

Activating Mn Sites by Ni Replacement in α-MnO.

Transition metal oxides are characterized by an acute structure and composition dependent electrocatalytic activity toward the oxygen evolution (OER) and oxygen reduction (ORR) reactions. For instance, Mn containing oxides are among the most active ORR catalysts, while Ni based compounds tend to show high activity toward the OER in alkaline solutions. In this study, we show that incorporation of Ni into α-MnO, by adding Ni precursor into the Mn-containing hydrothermal solution, can generate distinctive sites with different electronic configurations and contrasting electrocatalytic activity.

Researchers and clinicians need to be aware of procedures that are more adaptable to new and different environments in premature infants; therefore, it is important to conduct a comprehensive review of the effect of aromatherapy on apnea attacks and oxygen saturation (SpO2 ) in premature newborns. In this review, databases such as PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library were systematically searched without language and time limitations up to November 1, 2022. Initially, 153 studies were founded, and after duplicate removal, title as well as full-text review, seven studies were enrolled in the final analysis.

Purpose: This study examines key factors that facilitated and hindered creating an enabling environment for the implementation of SEmangaT duniA RemajA/Teen's Aspirations (SETARA), a comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) intervention in schools across three sites in Indonesia.

Methods: Data were collected through interviews with teachers, program implementers, and government officials; a review of program documents and monitoring and evaluation data; and a qualitative evaluation with SETARA students.

Results: One of the most important factors for creating an enabling environment for CSE relates to how well the program is introduced to government officials for approval.

Current gaps in management and timely referral of cardiorenal complications among people with type 2 diabetes mellitus in the Middle East and African countries: Expert recommendations.

The upsurge of type 2 diabetes mellitus is a major public health concern in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and Africa (AFR) region, with cardiorenal complications (CRCs) being the predominant cause of premature morbidity and mortality. High prevalence of cardiometabolic risk factors, lack of awareness among patients and physicians, deficient infrastructure, and economic constraints lead to a cascade of CRCs at a significantly earlier age in MENA and AFR. In this review, we present consensus recommendations by experts in MENA and AFR, highlighting region-specific challenges and potential solutions for management of CRCs.

The impact of the different types of acid solution on the extraction and adsorption performance of chitin from shrimp shell waste.

The properties of chitin-based adsorbents varied among studies since they are influenced by different factors, such as the types of base and acid used to extract the chitin. Therefore, this works aimed to investigate the impact of four different acid solutions on the extraction and properties of chitin from shrimp shell waste, and to evaluate the adsorption performance of the obtained chitin on removing dye from an aqueous solution. The result showed that HSO, HCl, and HNO could remove high minerals from the shrimp shell, while the effect of CHCOOH was inferior.

Objectives: This study aimed at evaluating oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) among adults with cleft lip and/or palate (CL/P) and compared it with adults with no orofacial cleft. The study also intended to find out the impact of cleft severity, gender, and age on the perceived OHRQoL.

Materials And Methods: The study was composed of a sample of 70 adult participants who received and completed dental treatments: 35 participants with CL/P (CL/P group) and 35 participants with no orofacial cleft (control group) agreed to participate.

We studied the dissociation of water (HO*, with * denoting adspecies) on atomic oxygen (O*)-covered Rh nanoclusters (Rh ) supported on a graphene film grown on a Ru(0001) surface [G/Ru(0001)] under ultrahigh-vacuum conditions and with varied surface-probe techniques and calculations based on density-functional theory. The graphene had a single rotational domain; its lattice expanded by about 5.7% to match the Ru substrate structurally better.

Purpose: Indonesian law provides prisoners with basic rights, including access to education, health care and nutrition. Yet, structural and institutional limitations, notably overcrowding and under-resourcing, prohibits penal institutions from fulfilling these commitments for female prisoners.
