Metabolic modeling is essential for understanding the mechanistic bases of cellular metabolism in various organisms, from microbes to humans, and the design of fitter microbial strains. Metabolic networks focus on the overall fluxes through biochemical reactions that implicitly rely on several biochemical processes, such as active or diffusive uptake (or export) of nutrients (or metabolites), enzymatic turnover of metabolites, and metal-cofactor enzyme interactions. Despite independent progress in biomolecular simulations, they have yet to be integrated to inform metabolic models.

Background: Type II diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a metabolic disorder. It is thought to be an autoinflammatory disease, as inflammatory mediators are associated with the progression of the disease. Visfatin, an adipokine, is linked to insulin resistance.

VC is an alternative to outpatient care which expedites time to specialists' opinions and is safe. Comparing different outpatient care models is important to understand the role of telehealth and integrated care, especially following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Exposure-based therapy is a first-line intervention for individuals who suffer from PTSD and other anxiety-related disorders; however, up to 50% of individuals with PTSD do not respond well to this approach. Fear extinction, a core mechanism underlying exposure-based therapy, is a procedure in which a repeated presentation of a conditioned stimulus in the absence of an unconditioned stimulus leads to a decrease in fear expression, and is a useful tool to better understand exposure-based therapy.

They have similar origins and cell components. E-cadherins are the main homophilic cell adhesion molecules, which play a central role in maintaining epithelial integrity, functioning in intercellular adhesion and differentiation.

Background: The routine approach to delve into the organization of mineralized and nonmineralized structures of teeth is by studying whole tooth or slices of it by making thin section which requires laborious grinding or employing specialized equipment and also leads to specimen wastage. Peels hitherto utilized for fossil studies hold promise in overcoming the aforesaid shortcomings. Although the acetate peel technique has been modified for the study of tooth structure, the field remains largely unexplored.

Background: Adiponectin, an adipocytokine, plays an important role in the development of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) in obese and cardiovascular disease patients, with few studies having observed low plasma concentrations. Persistent low-grade inflammation, an important feature in T2DM and obesity, bears an indirect influence on insulin resistance and insulin secretion and is reflected by increased plasma levels of C-reactive protein (CRP). Thus, low levels of anti-inflammatory cytokine, adiponectin, depicts that inflammation could be the link between T2DM, obesity and adiponectin.

Literature review is an important step in this process and can be tedious for large scale experiments. An informed and strategic decision about which biomolecule targets should be pursued for follow-up experiments thus remains a considerable challenge.

We have evaluated the immunohistochemical expressions of osteonectin (ON), matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) and Ki-67 in AM to understand the biologic behavior of this neoplasm.
Aim: The aim of this study is to evaluate the expression of ON, MMP-9 and Ki-67 in AM.
Aims: Chronic kidney disease patients overwhelm specialist services and can potentially be managed in the primary care (PC). Opportunistic screening of high risk (HR) patients and follow-up in PC is the most sustainable model of care. A 'virtual consultation' (VC) model instead of traditional face to face (F2F) consultations was used, aiming to assess efficacy and safety of the model.

Leiomyomatous hamartomas (LHs) are rare in the oral cavity and commonly seen in the Japanese and less than 40 cases have been reported in the Japanese and English literature. The clinical differential diagnoses are irritational (traumatic) fibroma and congenital epulis.

Based on their history and clinical appearance, most of these lesions can be easily diagnosed, but sometimes diagnosis may go wrong. In order to arrive to a confirmative diagnosis, histopathological assessment is needed in many cases, if not all.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLipomas are benign soft tissue tumours composed mainly of mature adipose tissue. Histological variants of lipomas have been named according to the type of tissue present and they include fibrolipoma, angiolipoma, osteolipoma, chondrolipoma and others. Osteolipoma, a classic lipoma with osseous metaplasia, is a very rare histological variant.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAmeloblastomas are rare histologically benign, locally aggressive tumors arising from the oral ectoderm that occasionally reach a gigantic size. Giant ameloblastomas are a rarity these days with the advent of panoramic radiography in routine dental practice. Furthermore, the granular cell variant is an uncommon histological subtype of ameloblastoma where the central stellate reticulum like cells in tumor follicles is replaced by granular cells.

Fibrosis is historically associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD) but emerging evidence is now linking many forms of acute kidney disease (AKD) with the development of CKD. Indeed, we and others have observed at least some degree of fibrosis in up to 50% of clinically defined cases of AKD.

While tracking pathologist eye movements when viewing digital slides may be the most direct method of capturing pathologists' viewing strategies, this technique is cumbersome and technically challenging to use in remote settings. Tracking pathologist mouse cursor movements may serve as a practical method of studying digital slide interpretation, and mouse cursor data may illuminate pathologists' viewing strategies and time expenditures in their interpretive workflow.
