Background: Affected sexual relationships affect both the quality of life of men and women. Platelet-derived therapies are becoming increasingly popular in various medical and surgical fields because of their ability to aid in tissue healing and vascular remodeling. This study aimed to assess the safety and effectiveness of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections in treating patients with erectile dysfunction (ED).

Among the family members, Enarthrocarpus strangulatus Boissier is a common Egyptian species that was rarely studied. Consequently, the current study aims to characterize its phytochemical composition and assess its potential bioactivity comprehensively.

These include ultra-high data rate, ultra-low latency, high spectral efficiency, and high end-to-end reliability. However, mmWave signals' blockage remains a critical issue that affects the reliability of mmWave at 60 GHz and at 100 GHz bands due to the significant attenuations induced by the blockers (BLs).

An experimental free-space optic (FSO) system is established to transmit 16 modes [8-ary Laguerre Gaussian (LG) and 8-ary superposition LG (Mux-LG) mode patterns] over a 3-m FSO channel, accounting for interception threats and turbulence effects. To the best of authors' knowledge, this paper is the first to consider both factors concurrently.

After human genome project (1990-2003) generated the first full sequence of a human genome, there have been concerns towards Northern bias due to underrepresentation of other populations. Multiple countries have now established national genome projects aiming at the genomic knowledge that can be harnessed from their populations, which in turn can serve as a basis for their health care policies in the near future.

This paper experimentally demonstrates multievent localization for long perimeter monitoring using a Sagnac interferometer loop sensor and machine learning techniques. The proposed method considers the multievent localization problem as a multilabel multiclassification problem by dividing the optical fiber into 250 segments.

We demonstrate the intruder detection system using a portion of a real fence manufactured and installed around one of the engineering college's gardens at King Saud University. The experimental results show that adaptive thresholding can help improve the performance of machine learning classifiers, such as linear discriminant analysis (LDA) or logistic regression algorithms in identifying an intruder's existence at low optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) scenarios.

The ideal surgical technique requires a thorough understanding of the relevant anatomy. This includes anatomic considerations related to, but not limited to, dissection and exposure of penoscrotal fasciae and tissues, corporal configuration, and abdominal structures.

Our patients were divided into 3 groups: Group 1 (n = 114) had no drain placed, Group 2 had a drain placed for 24 h (n = 114) and Group 3 had a drain placed for 72 h (n = 117). Postoperative scrotal hematoma and prosthesis infection rates were compared between the groups.

An AFSW is a radar waveform whose ambiguity function can be shaped to increase the peak-to-sidelobe ratio (PSR) for better detectability of targets in a desired range/velocity region. To the best of the authors' knowledge, this paper is the first in the literature that investigates the performance of such a waveform in a photonics-based radar system.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA MicroRNA (miRNA) is defined as a small molecule of non-coding RNA (ncRNA). Its molecular size is about 20 nucleotides (nt), and it acts on gene expression's regulation at the post-transcription level through binding to the 3'untranslated regions (UTR), coding sequences, or 5'UTR of the target messenger RNAs (mRNAs), which leads to the suppression or degradation of the mRNA. In recent years, a huge evolution has identified the origin and function of miRNAs, focusing on their important effects in research and clinical applications.

In this study, we proposed and numerically investigated novel ring core fiber-based stimulated Brillouin scattering for the simultaneous measurement of temperature and strain. The novel fiber, referred to as ring hyperbolic tangent (R-HTAN) fiber, is characterized by a shape parameter (α) that controls the optical refractive index and longitudinal acoustic velocity profiles.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA reconfigurable optical-to-electrical signal aggregation is proposed, for the first time, using optical signal processing and photo-mixing technology. Two optically modulated quadrature phase-shift keying (QPSK) signals are aggregated into a single 16-quadrature amplitude modulation (16-QAM) signal and, simultaneously, carried over a 28-GHz millimeter wave (MMW) carrier using an optimized heterodyne beating process through a single photodiode. To demonstrate the system reconfigurability, aggregation of two optical binary phase-shift keying signals is mapped into MMW QPSK or four-level pulse amplitude modulation signals by controlling the relative phases and amplitudes, respectively, of the input signals.

When a symptomatic compression fracture occurs without associated deformity or neurologic deficit, it can be treated with kyphoplasty with or without radiofrequency ablation (RFA).
