We describe a case of endovascular treatment in a 64-year-old woman affected by a penetrating atherosclerotic ulcer (PAU) of the abdominal aorta with a 26-mm pseudoaneurysm involving the celiac trunk (CT) origin and with superior mesenteric artery (SMA) occlusion in the first 30 mm. The patient underwent stenting to treat the SMA occlusion and subsequent deployment of a custom-designed fenestrated endovascular stent-graft to treat the PAU involving the CT origin. Follow-up at 6 months after device placement demonstrated no complications, and there was complete thrombosis of the PAU and patency of the two branch vessels.

Our aim was to prove the feasibility and safety of a protocol for early and protected discharge 1 day after carotid endarterectomy (CEA) using a system of telemedicine (TMD) monitoring. Among 147 patients operated upon for 163 CEAs, we selected a group (A) of 36 patients fulfilling criteria for discharge 1 day after surgery. An electronic blood pressure manometer, a videophone, an antihypertensive drug (amlodipine), and a customer satisfaction questionnaire were given to every group A patient.

A new method based on ion chromatography (IC) was developed for the determination of phosphorus in fertilizers. Fertilizers were extracted with water, mineral acids, and 2% formic acid, 2% citric acid, and neutral ammonium citrate solutions according to European Regulation No. 2003/2003 of the European Parliament and the Council of October 13, 2003, or the Decree of the Italian Agriculture Minister of June 17, 2002; the extracts were analyzed by direct injection, after simple filtration, by IC on an IonPac AS19 (250 x 4 mm id) column, using a KOH (21-50-21 mM) gradient and suppressed conductivity detection.

Long-term success of endovascular treatment of infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) depends on secure "attachment" of the stent to the proximal and distal necks of the aneurysm. The purpose of this retrospective study was to detect changes in the proximal neck early after endovascular treatment of infrarenal AAA. Between November 1997 and December 1998, we performed endovascular treatment of infrarenal AAA in 43 patients.
