Background: A subarachnoid hemorrhage due to an aneurysmal rupture (aSAH) is a serious condition with severe neurological consequences. The World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS) classification is a reliable predictor of death and long-term disability in patients with aSAH. Poor-grade neurological conditions on admission in aSAH (PG-aSAH) are often linked to high mortality rates and unfavorable outcomes.

Modification of nootkatone to create new derivatives with desirable activities has attracted significant attention. For this purpose, cytochrome P450 monooxygenases (P450 or CYP) are attractive candidates due to their ability to perform regio- and stereoselective hydroxylation at allylic C-H bonds.

Our study aims to evaluate how this approach influences disease activity, dropout rates, and transition.
Methods: We conducted a longitudinal observational study including all patients diagnosed with IBD during pediatric-adolescent age, with a minimum follow-up period of 12 months.
In pediatric patients, the choice of the venous access device currently relies upon the operator's experience and preference and on the local availability of specific resources and technologies. Though, considering the limited options for venous access in children if compared to adults, such clinical choice has a great critical relevance and should preferably be based on the best available evidence. Though some algorithms have been published over the last 5 years, none of them seems fully satisfactory and useful in clinical practice.

The development of immunotherapies and other forms of targeted therapies has significantly changed the prognosis of some previously incurable cancers in the adult population. However, so far, the results in pediatric cohorts are disappointing, which is mainly due to differences in tumor biology, including extreme heterogeneity and a generally low tumor mutational burden.

However, the safety of breast implants with textured surfaces has been questioned, owing to a potential correlation with anaplastic large-cell lymphoma and the recurrence of breast cancer. This study investigates the immune response elicited by different prosthetic surfaces, focusing on the comparison between macrotextured and microtextured breast implants.

The pathogenesis is still understood and is likely characterized by type 2 inflammation. Food allergens are the primary triggers of EoE that stimulate inflammatory cells through an impaired esophageal barrier.

Congenital internal jugular phlebectasia (CIJP) is a rare condition characterized by congenital dilatation of the vein without tortuosity that becomes more evident during straining as a lateral neck mass. CIJP often remains undiagnosed from a few months to several years after the onset of the swelling. It is frequently asymptomatic although symptomatic cases have been occasionally reported.

Ultrasound-guided procedures require practice and experience-especially in the pediatric field, where the small size of the involved anatomical structures poses major problems. In this context, a realistic 3D printed pediatric phantom for training of the ultrasound-guided placement of peripheral central venous catheters in children was developed.

PubMed, Scopus, Embase and Web of Science databases were screened for studies regarding EA patients aged more than or equal to 11 years, published between August 2014 and June 2022. Sixteen studies involving 830 patients were analyzed.

Diseases of the liver and the digestive system can lead to malnutrition through an action of reduced food intake or nutrient use, inflammation and impaired metabolism, which result in substantial changes in body composition. Frequently, malnutrition manifests itself with weight loss and reduced muscle mass. However, weight loss and body mass index lack sensitivity to detect the loss of muscle mass and are not informative in distinguishing body water compartments and in characterizing their distribution.

ZEN and its metabolites are considered endocrine disruptors, and could have various toxic effects on animals and humans. In recent years, there has been a significant demographic increase in wild boar () in many mountainous and hilly areas of Italy, including the Campania region, mainly due to global climate change.

In the pediatric population, few studies have been conducted worldwide reporting EGID diagnostic delay and its consequences on patients. This study aims to analyze and identify potential clinical factors and complications associated with a longer diagnostic time.

These patients have similar survival rates when treated according to either Children's Oncology Group (COG) or International Society of Pediatric Oncology (SIOP) protocols. We aimed to compare the late outcome of these two approaches.

LU is a diagnosis of exclusion. As these lesions heal spontaneously, in the absence of tissue scarring, the therapy is mainly symptomatic and focuses on pain relief.

Despite these results, the use of robotics has been rarely reported for pediatric oncology. Our review aims to evaluate the safety and feasibility of robotics-assisted surgery in this field, analyzing our experience and performing a systematic review of the most recent studies.

Due to the complexity of these enzymes, their dependency of nicotinamide cofactors and redox partner proteins, recombinant microbial whole cells appear most appropriate for effective P450-mediated biocatalysis. However, some drawbacks exist that require individual solutions also when P450 whole-cell catalysts are used.

Over the years, the commercial demand for this compound rose notably because of the high clinical importance of its semi-synthetic chemotherapeutic derivatives etoposide and teniposide. To satisfy this demand, (-)-podophyllotoxin is conventionally isolated from the roots and rhizomes of Sinopodophyllum hexandrum, which can only grow in few regions and is now endangered by overexploitation and environmental damage.

We performed a retrospective study to determine the effectiveness and feasibility of articulating linear stapler in laparoscopic total splenectomy (LTS) and laparoscopic partial splenectomy (LPS), focusing on technical laparoscopic skills that could help pediatric surgeons to avoid intra- and postoperative complications. Retrospective cohort study of children younger than 18 years who underwent laparoscopic spleen surgery between January 2008 and March 2020. Age, sex, indication for surgery, operative time (OT), intra- and postoperative complications, and postoperative length of hospital stay (LHS) were analyzed.
