  • - A survey was conducted to assess Polish obstetricians' and gynecologists' knowledge and experiences regarding External Cephalic Version (ECV), revealing that many prefer elective cesarean sections for non-cephalic presentations.
  • - Of the 461 respondents, a significant majority (78.70% for primiparas and 73.50% for multiparas) chose cesarean sections over ECV, with only a small fraction having participated in the procedure.
  • - The findings indicated a need for better education on ECV, as experienced practitioners expressed higher concerns about its safety and efficacy, suggesting that improved training could help reduce reliance on cesarean deliveries.

The FIGO staging system is an integral part of the therapeutic and treatment process in female genital tumors. It cements the knowledge gained to date to plan patient treatment prognosis and the course of the disease and compare treatment outcomes between centers in the most individualized yet systematic way. In response to these assumptions, the FIGO Committee on Gynaecological Oncology updated the endometrial cancer staging classification in June 2023.

Objectives: Vulvar lichen sclerosus (VLS) is a chronic inflammatory condition involving mainly the genital area with an undetermined aetiology. Recent studies show that in up to 34% of cases in adult women, VLS coexists with allergies or autoimmune diseases like celiac disease (CD), among others. However, literature data relating strictly to the co-occurrence of celiac disease and Duhring's disease (DH) in patients with VLS are very limited.

Objectives: Vulvar lichen sclerosus (VLS) is defined as a chronic inflammatory skin disease that most often involves lesions on the mucous membranes of the vulva with a tendency to progress to the anal skin. The etiopathogenesis of VLS remains unknown and is likely multifactorial. Data emphasize the role of immunological factors - more than 25% of VLS cases coexist with autoimmune diseases.

  • Adenomyosis is a uterine condition that can cause painful periods, abnormal bleeding, and discomfort during sex, affecting young women's fertility and overall well-being.
  • Recent studies show that this condition is being diagnosed more often in adolescents, particularly those with severe menstrual pain and heavy bleeding.
  • A review of five studies found that 25-45% of young women (ages 12-25) with heavy menstrual bleeding and pelvic pain were diagnosed with adenomyosis, highlighting the need for healthcare providers to consider this diagnosis in similar cases.

Adolescent pregnancy is associated with increased risk of both maternal and neonatal complications. Common maternal complications include anemia, hypertensive disorders, and a higher incidence of infections, including Group B Streptococcus (GBS). Additionally, adolescents are at increased risk for gestational diabetes and postpartum hemorrhage.

Fetal anomalies among young women and adolescents pose major public health concerns. This systematic review aims to elucidate the relationship between young maternal age and the incidence of fetal abnormalities. According to the systematic review and meta-analysis PRISMA protocol, cohort, cross-sectional and case-control studies were scrutinized to include 80,393,450 participants across diverse regions.

Endometriosis is an enigmatic disease, with no specific cause or trigger yet discovered. Major factors that may contribute to endometriosis in the pelvic region include environmental, epigenetic, and inflammatory factors. Most experts believe that the primary mechanism behind the formation of endometrial lesions is associated with Sampson's theory of "retrograde menstruation".

The route of administration of implanted cells may affect the outcome of cell therapy by directing cell migration to the damaged site. However, the question of the relationship between the route of administration, the efficacy of colonisation of a given organ, and the efficacy of cell therapy has not been resolved. The aim of the study was to localise transplanted intravenously and intraperitoneally human amniotic epithelial cells (hAECs) in the tissues of mice, both healthy and injured, in an animal experimental model of acute liver failure (ALF).

The study aimed to evaluate the clinical effects of utilizing acellular dermal matrix (ADM) for treating pelvic organ prolapse. The motivation behind exploring a new treatment method stems from the limited efficacy of current surgical options, which are often associated with side effects. Ten patients with reproductive organ prolapse underwent surgery at the Chair and Department of Gynecology, Obstetrics, and Gynecological Oncology in Katowice.

  • Acute genital ulcers can present in females of any age, particularly as an emergency in children, causing diagnostic challenges for healthcare professionals like pediatricians and gynecologists.
  • A detailed medical history is crucial, as past conditions and vaccinations may contribute to acute genital ulcers, including new agents such as COVID-19.
  • A case study of a 12-year-old girl with ulcers revealed accompanying symptoms like abdominal pain and fever, with abnormal blood tests indicating inflammation while common infection tests returned negative, alongside a history of autoimmune disease.

This retrospective study aimed to investigate the impact of microorganisms identified in the reproductive tract on disorders during the early adaptation period in newborns. A cohort of 823 patients and cervical canal cultures were analyzed to identify the presence of microorganisms. Newborns included in the study were divided into two groups due to the number of pathogens identified in the swab from the cervical canal of the mother.

Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome (BWS) is an imprinting disorder, which manifests by overgrowth and predisposition to embryonal tumors. The evidence on the relationship between maternal complications such as HELLP (hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, and low platelet count) and preeclampsia and the development of BWS in offspring is scarce. A comprehensive clinical evaluation, with genetic testing focused on screening for mutations in the CDKN1C gene, which is commonly associated with BWS, was conducted in a newborn diagnosed with BWS born to a mother with a history of preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome.

Background: Placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) is a clinical entity significantly increasing the risk of a peripartum hemorrhage. Various surgical methods have been described in the literature, which aim to reduce the risk of bleeding, although they often lack reproducibility and have been performed on low numbers of patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate the use of the Foley catheter as a cervical tourniquet during cesarean sections, in patients with PAS.

One of the most perilous complications in obstetrics, often leading to severe bleeding and sometimes a need for urgent hysterectomy, is placenta accreta spectrum, which significantly increases the risk of peri-partum complications, even including the risk of death for the mother and the child. Dealing with excessive bleeding in this situation is paramount. We have found a Foley catheter tourniquet to be useful as a temporary tourniquet to control placental and uterine hemorrhage.

Recent studies show that 15-34% of cases in adult women and 14% in girls coexist with allergies or autoimmune diseases, among others - celiac disease (CD). Most of the research on the coexistence of VLS and autoimmune diseases has been carried out on a group of adult women.
