This study aimed to evaluate the impact of the Health Gym Program (HGP) on hospital admissions for stroke in the state of Pernambuco, Brazil. This policy impact evaluation used a quasi-experimental approach consisting of a difference-in-differences estimator, weighted by propensity score matching to deal with potential confounding variables. The study comprised socioeconomic, demographic, and epidemiological data from official Brazilian databases from 2010 to 2019.

The aim of this paper was to analyze the impact of the Health Gym Program (HGP) on the Systemic Arterial Hypertension mortality rate in Pernambuco state, Brazil. This public policy impact analysis used a quasi-experimental approach which consisted of the application of Propensity Score Matching in the years 2010 and 2017. Socioeconomic, demographic, and epidemiological data of 89 municipalities that implemented HGP (treated) and 54 that did not (controls) were collected from the Brazilian Health Data Department, Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics, and other databases.

In 2011, the Brazilian Minister for Health created the Health Academy Program (Programa Academia da Saúde) as a strategy to promote health and healthy lifestyles. However, the official standards do not seem to be clear enough to support the implementation program in the towns. The aim of this study was to analyse the degree of Health Academy Program implementation in a Brazilian midsize town Vitória de Santo Antão, Pernambuco State, in 2018.

Implementation of the Health Gym Program is one of the key strategies in the Brazilian National Health Promotion Policy, but thus far no evaluability studies have been performed on this intervention in Recife, Pernambuco State, one of the first cities in the country to implement this intervention. This study aimed to measure the evaluability of the Health Gym Program in the city of Recife, based on the description of the intervention and the elaboration of its log frame model and theoretical models for evaluation, in addition to identifying evaluative questions. A qualitative approach was used, based on a seven-element system, by document research, interviews, and discussion with the program's managers and staff, as well as the condensation of meanings technique for analysis of the documents and interviews.
