Analysis of the prescription process of PCSK9 inhibitors in the cardiology departments of Spanish hospitals and optimization proposal. The IKIGAI study.

Aims: To ascertain the formalities and procedures required for the prescription of PCSK9 inhibitors in the cardiology departments of Spanish hospitals, making proposals for improvement to optimize the prescription process.

Methods: A first phase of collecting information about the variables and administrative procedures required for the prescription of PCK9 inhibitors and the elaboration of a specific questionnaire and a second phase of collecting data with an online self-administered questionnaire.

Results: A total of 88 hospitals participated in the study (mean number of beds 625; mean number of cardiologists 18 ± 10; 78% university hospitals).

Transcatheter Valve-in-Valve Replacement Through Apicoaortic Conduit for Aortic Bypass Valve Failure.

We report a case of a 69-year-old woman who required an apicoaortic bypass conduit after stenosis of a biological aortic prosthesis valve previously implanted 4 years earlier. The patient was admitted to the emergency department 8 years later with a diagnosis of congestive heart failure. Echocardiography and nuclear magnetic resonance revealed severe regurgitation of the conduit valve.

Ventricular tachycardia in a man with spontaneous coronary artery dissection.

Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) is a rare cause of acute ischemic coronary events. It is more prevalent in young women, particularly in the peripartum period. In men it is an extremely rare cause.

Abnormal transient Q waves: does electrocardiography continue to be a useful tool?

Continuous electrocardiograph monitoring in initial phases of Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) is well established. We present a patient case with ACS without ST elevation who developed transient pathological Q waves accompanying angina symptoms. The possible mechanisms and prognostic implications are discussed.
