This study aimed to evaluate dental adhesives containing different concentrations of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs) for their use in the treatment of dental fluorosis, observe the interaction of the adhesive on healthy enamel surfaces and with mild and moderate fluorosis, measure the adhesive strength and fluorosis, and determine the phosphorus (P) and calcium (Ca) content on these surfaces, as a reference for the potential use of this adhesive with ZnO-NPs for dental fluorosis treatment. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) were used to characterise the ZnO-NPs and analyse the weight percentages of P and Ca in the enamel using X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and the adhesive strength using a universal mechanical testing machine. FESEM characterisation revealed that the ZnO-NPs were less than 100 nm in size, with quasi-spherical and hexagonal prism shapes.

The Structural properties of Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs) as well as their antibacterial properties against Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa; as well as bacteria that are usually found in the mouth of humans and are related to dental conditions, such as Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans, Porphyromonas gingivalis, Prevotella intermedia, Streptococcus mutans and Streptococcus sanguinis, are presented in this report. ZnO-NPs were grown by green synthesis, using the Mexican plant Dysphania ambrosioides known in Mexico as "epazote", which was used by native populations of Mexico as a dewormer, is currently used widely in traditional Mexican cuisine and is rich in organic compounds as flavonoids and terpenes which may favor the synthesis of nanoparticles (NPs). ZnO-NPs were synthesized by the mentioned technology and were compared with commercial ZnO-NPs as a reference.

Heteropterys cotinifolia (Malpighiaceae) has been used in traditional Mexican medicine mainly for the treatment of nervous disorders. However, the specific neuropharmacological activities responsible for this use remain to be defined. The present study evaluates the antidepressant and anxiolytic effects produced by the methanolic extract of Heteropterys cotinifolia and the influence of such effects on motor activity in ICR mice.
