Background: Total proctocolectomy with ileal pouch anal anastomosis (IPAA) is the operative procedure of choice for familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) patients. We review 24years of operative experience and outcomes in pediatric patients with FAP.
Methods: Patients with FAP, age<20years, presenting to a single institution between 1987 and 2011 were included.
Purpose: Understanding the natural history of Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP) will guide screening and aid clinical management.
Methods: Patients with FAP, age ≤20years presenting between 1987 and 2011, were reviewed for presentation, diagnosis, extraintestinal manifestations, polyp burden, family history, histology, gene mutation, surgical intervention, and outcome.
Results: One hundred sixty-three FAP patients were identified.
Purpose: Persistent air leak (PAL) is associated with increased morbidity. Standard treatment of PAL includes chemical or mechanical pleurodesis. Long-term impact of these interventions is not known in the pediatric population.

Non-operative management for blunt injuries to the proximal pancreas has become increasingly common. A bleeding pseudoaneurysm in the setting of a traumatic pancreatic pseudocyst presents a morbid operation. We present the case of a 15-year old with a grade V pancreatic injury that developed a bleeding pseudoaneurysm successfully treated with percutaneous ultrasound-guided thrombin injection.
