Skin Necrosis from Intra-articular Hyaluronic Acid Injection.

Background: Tissue necrosis is a rare yet potentially serious complication of intra-articular (IA) hyaluronic acid (HA) injections for treatment of knee osteoarthritis.

Objective: To report a case of a patient with cutaneous necrosis after IA HA injection for treatment of knee osteoarthritis, presenting as a livedoid violaceous patch on the right knee.

Method: We report a case of cutaneous necrosis as a rare complication of IA HA injection for treatment of knee osteoarthritis.

Isotretinoin use and the risk of inflammatory bowel disease: a population-based cohort study.

Limited evidence suggests that isotretinoin may be associated with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). To explore this association, we conducted a retrospective population-based cohort study in British Columbia, Canada, among participants who were newly treated with isotretinoin or topical acne medications. The entire population of untreated provincial residents aged 12-29 years served as the reference group.
