Jordanian English language educators' perceived readiness for virtual learning environment.

Online engagement has assumed a pivotal role within educational pedagogy, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study delves into the perceptions of Jordanian English language educators regarding their preparedness for online teaching in the post-pandemic landscape. In this quantitative study, a group of 101 English language educators from Jordanian universities participated, and their responses were subjected to analysis through descriptive statistics.

Appropriating Shakespearean graphic novels for Malaysian classrooms to create correct gender representations.

Public awareness on gender education may not be easily translated in living classrooms, which prompts new alternatives. In this study, we explored Shakespearean graphic novels in exposing Malaysian school students to gender-related issues. The two-fold research entails tracing the female presence in eight selected images from digital graphic novels that define the gender and place social expectations across the globe; and secondly, gathering teachers' perception of these selected graphic novels.

Conceptualizing the complexity of reflective practice in education.

In higher education, reflective practice has become a dynamic, participatory, and cyclical process that contributes to educators' professional development and personal growth. While it is now a prominent part of educators, many still find it challenging to apply the concept for it carries diverse meaning for different people in different contexts. This article attempts to (re)conceptualize the complexity of reflective practice in an educational context.

A phenomenological study of online assessment during a pandemic crisis: Insights from Malaysia, Lithuania, and Spain.

Many countries, namely, Malaysia, Lithuania, and Spain, shifted to online assessment during the COVID-19 pandemic. This qualitative case study, which involved 18 undergraduate students from the three countries, was conducted to probe insights into their online assessment experience. Data were interpreted from the perspective of the expectancy-value theory of motivation, which focuses on intrinsic attainment, utility, and cost values.

The Semantics of the Preposition " " in the Quran: A Conceptual Metaphor Perspective.

Traditional syntactic approaches do not offer a plausible explanation regarding the use of the Arabic preposition " " with abstract nouns or states. This article adopts a corpus-based approach to investigate the semantic classification of the preposition " " in the Quran from a cognitive linguistic perspective. Conceptual metaphor theory (hereafter CMT) was employed to find out conceptual metaphors (hereafter CM) in the data retrieved from the Quran with the help of search Quran software.

Online Teaching Practicum in Malaysia in the Time of COVID-19 Pandemic.

When the teachers' training practicum was paralyzed during the COVID-19 pandemic, preservice teachers in Malaysia were required to adapt to the online practicum. This qualitative case study was conducted with 20 preservice teachers to investigate their online teaching practicum experiences. The study drew on the Engagement Theory and Disaster Management Cycle framework to further suggest teaching approaches that might be effective during a tragic situation.

Towards the Sustainability of English Language Teachers Professionalism Professional Development Programs: Extrinsic and Intrinsic Satisfactions.

With a great emphasis on understanding teacher satisfaction in designing and improving professional development programs (PDPs), this study investigated the intrinsic and extrinsic aspects of satisfaction among Malaysian English as a Second Language (ESL) primary school teachers after finishing their first-degree program. A mixed-methods design was employed by using both quantitative methods (by administering survey research) and qualitative methods (through the use of items of the semi-structured questionnaire). The survey questionnaire was adapted from OECD Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS) questionnaire to measure the level of intrinsic and extrinsic teacher satisfaction among the samples.

A Phenomenological Study of Educators' Experience After a Year of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

This phenomenological study investigated educators' lived experiences of teaching online in higher institutions in Malaysia. Data, which was generated through semi-structured interviews with 20 lecturers from three universities in the country, was analysed based on the thematic analysis approach guided by the Technological, Pedagogical, and Content Knowledge (TPACK)-self-efficacy framework. The findings revealed that after a year of teaching online, the potential of technology has been acknowledged by the educators after some trials and constraints were addressed.

The Interplay of Infidelity, Sexuality, and Religiosity in the Discourse of Mixed-Orientation Marriages: A Discursive Psychological Analysis.

This research examines the complex interplay of religiosity, sexuality, and infidelity. We adopted a case study approach in this research, and discourse was made central to the analysis. There were two participants; both identified as homosexuals.

On the Psychology of Argument: A Structural Analysis of Former Muslims' Postings Within Malaysian Social Media.

This research attempts to provide insights into the argumentation structures in the discussion of Islam on social media involving 14 Malaysian former Muslims. The social media accounts of the participants were observed for 12 months, from January to December 2019. A total of 368 postings put forth arguments related to Islamic authoritative discourse, the Quran and "Sunnah" of the Prophet Muhammad, to justify their renunciation of the Muslim religion.

Pneumatic jigging: Influence of operating parameters on separation efficiency of solid waste materials.

This article aims to provide insights into the factors that contribute to the separation efficiency of solid particles. In this study, a pneumatic jigging technique was used to assess the separation of solid waste materials that consisted of copper, glass and rubber insulator. Several initial experiments were carried out to evaluate the strengths and limitations of the technique.
