[Isolated splenic vein thrombosis].

We report the case of 61-year-old woman with isolated splenic vein thrombosis resulted from chronic pancreatitis. Left-sided portal hypertension secondary to splenic vein occlusion was responsible for development of the isolated gastric varices. The patient underwent prophylactic, successful splenectomy.
