Unlabelled: Chemotherapy is an important modality of treatment for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Recent studies have shown that assessment of predictive molecular markers could be helpful for estimation of the response rate to chemotherapy. The aim of our study was to assess the relation of mRNA levels of DNA repair genes excision repair cross-complementary group 1 (ERCC1), ribonucleotide reductase subunit M1 (RRM1) and breast cancer 1 (BRCA1), in surgically-resected tumor tissues from patients who underwent adjuvant chemotherapy, to the disease-free interval (DFI) and overall survival (OS).

MicroRNAs, which are endogenously expressed regulatory noncoding RNAs, have an altered expression in colorectal cancer. The aim of our study was to assess the relationship of miR-21 and miR-143 expression to the prognostic/clinicopathological features of colorectal carcinoma (CRC) and colorectal liver metastases (CLM). The estimation was performed in 46 paired (tumor and control) tissue samples of CRC.

Enhanced differentiation of human embryonic stem cells (HESCs), induced by genetic modification could potentially generate a vast number of diverse cell types. Such genetic modifications have frequently been achieved by over-expression of individual regulatory proteins. However, careful evaluation of the expression levels is critical, since this might have important implications for the differentiation potential of HESCs.

During the process of differentiation, osteoblasts commit through strictly controlled checkpoints under the influence of several growth factors, cytokines, and extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins. The mineralized tissue-specific ECM component osteoadherin (OSAD) belongs to the small leucine-rich repeat protein family of proteoglycans. Proteoglycans modulate cellular behavior either through the attached glycosaminoglycan chains or by direct protein-protein interactions via the core protein sequences.

Background: Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and cytokeratin 20 (CK20) are established tumour markers and the CEA pre-operative levels in serum have prognostic value. The aim of this study was to verify the usefulness of the estimation of CEA and CK20 gene expressions in tissues of colorectal cancers and their liver metastases.

Patients And Methods: Two hundred and twenty-two specimens of colorectal cancers, their liver metastases, other liver tumours and control tissues were analysed by reverse transcription combined with real-time PCR.
