Sutureless repair of left ventricular free wall rupture following acute myocardial infarction with cardiogenic shock.

We report a case of blow-out-type left ventricular free wall rupture (LVFWR) after acute myocardial infarction, who presented with unstable hemodynamic condition in New York Heart Association (NYHA) functional class IV. Immediately, we performed a successful LVFWR repair with sutureless technique using a glue and expanded polytetrafluoroethylene patch on cardio-pulmonary bypass support. Postoperative period and recovery was uneventful.

Effectiveness of zolpidem and sleep hygiene counseling in the treatment of insomnia in solid tumor patients.

Objective: To study the effectiveness of zolpidem and sleep hygiene counseling in managing insomnia in solid tumor patients.

Methods: Cancer patients with a Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index score ≥ 5 were grouped into two. Both groups received treatment for insomnia in the form of either zolpidem 5 mg for 7 days or sleep hygiene counseling.
