Background: The Global Dementia Action Plan 2017-2025 specifies key targets, with an emphasis on building research infrastructure and capability across the Global South. However, to date, only 0.1% of total research in Africa constitutes dementia research, the lowest volume of all LMIC regions.

Technology and Dementia Preconference.

Background: Developing culture-fair tests that measure constructs equivalently across different ethno-lingual groups is challenging, given the diverse cultural variations that impact neurocognitive measurement. Multi-level measurement invariance must be established before interpreting scores similarly across groups, both within and between cultures for meaningful comparisons.

Method: We set out to test whether a neurocognitive tool (BENCI) behaves the same way across the males (n = 311) and the females group (n = 291) using measurement invariance testing with multigroup confirmatory factor analysis.

A scoping review of substance use brief interventions in Africa.

Background: The burden of substance use in Africa is substantial. Brief interventions (BIs) are a recommended public health strategy for the prevention and early intervention for substance use problems. The objective of this scoping review was to map the literature on substance use BIs in Africa, identify gaps, and provide directions for future research.

Standardization of the Computerized Battery for Neuropsychological Evaluation of Children (BENCI) in an urban setting, in Kenya: a study protocol.

Objective: In sub Saharan Africa one of the key challenges in assessment using neuropsychological tools has been the lack of adequately validated and easily implementable measures. This study will translate into English, adapt and standardize the Computerized Battery for Neuropsychological Evaluation of Children (BENCI). The BENCI battery will be adapted using back-translation design, comprehensive cultural adaptation and standardized in a case-control study involving two groups of children: HIV infected and HIV unexposed, uninfected children.
