Health and Well-Being Among Those Aging in Place in a Jerusalem Religious Community.

An innovative pilot program in a traditional Jerusalem synagogue was developed to increase medical and social well-being of older community members who want to age in place. The study assessed the impact of the program. Interviews and focus groups were conducted in 2019 with 30 program participants, program staff, and non-program residents and with program leaders a year later.

'Listen and learn:' participant input in program planning for a low-income urban population at cardiovascular risk.

Background: Families with children under age six participating in the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Program (TANF) must participate in work-related activities for 20 h per week. However, due to financial hardship, poor health, and exposure to violence and adversity, families may experience great difficulty in reaching self-sufficiency. The purpose of this report is to describe study design and baseline findings of a trauma-informed financial empowerment and peer support intervention meant to mitigate these hardships.

Mild traumatic brain injury: a place for social work.

Mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) has emerged as a significant public health issue. Increases in both the prevalence and awareness of this injury have resulted in a greater demand for mTBI-informed care. Our exploratory, qualitative study examines the work lives of front-line mTBI professionals.
