Relationship between antimicrobial-resistance programs and antibiotic dispensing for upper respiratory tract infection: An analysis of Australian data between 2004 and 2015.

Objective NPS MedicineWise aims to ensure that medicines are prescribed and used in a manner consistent with current evidence-based best practice. A series of nationwide educational and advertising interventions for general practitioners and consumers were implemented in Australia between 2009 and 2015 with the aim of reducing antibiotic prescriptions for upper respiratory tract infections (URTIs). The work described in this paper quantifies the change in antibiotic dispensing following these interventions.

A web-based clinical decision support tool for primary health care management of back pain: development and mixed methods evaluation.

Background: Many patients with back pain do not receive health care in accordance with best practice recommendations. Implementation trials to address this issue have had limited success. Despite the known effectiveness of clinical decision support systems (CDSS), none of these are available for back pain management.

Evaluation of a medicines list iPhone app.

Introduction: A medicines list iPhone app, based on an existing paper product, was developed by NPS MedicineWise for consumers. Since its launch in June 2011 the app has been downloaded over 19,000 times. With plans to expand its development and increase its use, it was critical to discover how the app is used and how useful it is.
