Objectives: To compare to three nonlinear imaging techniques to conventional, grayscale ultrasound imaging of renal lesions.
Methods: Twenty adults with a known renal lesion and a body mass index >25 kg/m were enrolled in this prospective, institutional review board approved study. Each subject was imaged with an Aplio 500 scanner (Canon Medical Systems, Tokyo, Japan) using grayscale ultrasound, tissue harmonic imaging (THI) and two dual-frequency, differential tissue harmonic imaging modes (DTHI and DTHI-II, respectively).
Store-operated calcium entry (SOCE) is mediated by the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) Ca sensors stromal interaction molecules (STIM1 and STIM2) and the plasma membrane Orai (Orai1, Orai2, Orai3) Ca channels. Although primarily regulated by ER Ca content, there have been numerous studies over the last 15 years demonstrating that all 5 proteins are also regulated through post-translational modification (PTM). Focusing primarily on phosphorylation, glycosylation and redox modification, this review focuses on how PTMs modulate the key events in SOCE; Ca sensing, STIM translocation, Orai interaction and/or Orai1 activation.

Low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) accelerates fracture healing by stimulating the production of bone callus and the mineralization process. This study compared a novel bimodal acoustic signal (BMAS) device for bone fracture healing to a clinical LIPUS system (EXOGEN; Bioventus, Durham, NC, USA). Thirty rabbits underwent a bilateral fibular osteotomy.

In this study, we characterized 31 isolates of (group B [GBS]) from several geographic locations in the United States and Ireland that contain deletions in or adjacent to the region of the chromosome that encodes the hemolysin gene , the region targeted by the Xpert GBS and GBS LB assays. PCR-negative, culture-positive isolates were recognized during verification studies of the Xpert GBS assay in 12 laboratories between 2012 and 2018.
