[Criteria for evaluating and choosing a method of drying medical objects after steam sterilization].

The dependence is derived to determine the duration of drying process for medical products in the course of steam sterilization. The drying index for assessing efficiency of different drying techniques is proposed. With the index, the most useful drying technique can be selected, and the duration of drying process can be determined.

[Improved schedules for steam sterilization of rubber medical products].

The effect of residual air concentration in a sterilization chamber and of technique of its removal on the heating rate of an object are studied as well as the effect of packaging density on the process of air removal and on the object's warming up. The following rubber medical products have been used as objects: surgical gloves, drainage and connecting tubes, and stoppers. The studies make it possible to define the gravity-fluctuation technique as the optimum one for air removal, and the optimum loading density of sterilization boxes that ensures the object sterility.

[Set of sterilization equipment for large therapeutic institutions].

Some problems concerning the organization of sterilization departments in medical and prophylactic institutions of the Health Ministry of the USSR are discussed. A fundamentally new organizational scheme of work according to the three-zone principle is described. The set of equipment for large sterilization departments is presented.

[Choice of operating conditions for gaseous formaldehyde sterilization].

Conditions for formaldehyde sterilization of plastic medical articles were investigated and technological parameters of this sterilization method were developed. This work was completed by the creation of a new 100 1 chamber for the treatment of plastic medical articles.

[Mechanization of the work of the personnel of the sterilization service of therapeutic-preventive institutions].

The presently functioning service of central sterilization departments at medical institutions has presented itself in a good light. The home industry already puts out the necessary basic facilities and is putting into production the ancillary ones to equip them. Further development of the sterilization service centralization follows the way of setting up sterilization centres organized on the principle of highly mechanized and automated industrial enterprises.
