Decade-long efforts in medicinal biotechnology have enabled large-scale in-vitro production of optimised therapeutic RNA constructs for stable in-vivo delivery and modify the expression of disease-related genes. The success of lipid nanoparticle-formulated mRNA vaccines against Severe acute respiratory syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-Cov2) has opened a new era of RNA therapeutics and non-viral drug delivery systems. The major limiting factor in the clinical translation of RNA-based drugs is the availability of suitable delivery vehicles that can protect RNA payloads from degradation, offer controlled release, and pose minimal inherent toxicity.

Multiple abiotic stresses like extreme temperatures, water shortage, flooding, salinity, and exposure to heavy metals are confronted by crop plants with changing climatic patterns. Prolonged exposure to these adverse environmental conditions leads to stunted plant growth and development with significant yield loss in crops. CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing tool is being frequently employed to understand abiotic stress-responsive genes.

This review deals with computational study of polyphenolic compounds of medicinal importance and interest for drug development. Herein, four polyphenolic compounds comprising catechol (), caffeic acid (), gallic acid (), and pyrogallol () have been isolated from a medicinal specie, by applying silica gel column chromatography. These compounds were identified by using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis and confirmed by geometric computational analysis.

Acceleration change index (ACI) is a fast and easy to understand heart rate variability (HRV) analysis approach used for assessing cardiac autonomic control of the nervous systems. The cardiac autonomic control of the nervous system is an example of highly integrated systems operating at multiple time scales. Traditional single scale based ACI did not take into account multiple time scales and has limited capability to classify normal and pathological subjects.

Multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) are at the forefront of metal-free electrocatalysts, however, the performance is still limited due to lack of functionality and dispersion. Coupling of MWCNTs with nitrogen doped carbon quantum dots (NCQDs) can impart the required active sites and dispersion. For the purpose, NCQDs are generally attached to MWCNTs by multistep processing, such as NCQDs synthesis, followed by their complex purification, surface activation, and crosslinking with MWCNT.

In this paper we introduce a real Pashtu handwritten numerals dataset (PHND) having 50,000 scanned images and make publicly available for research and scientific use. Although more than fifty million people in the world use this language for written and oral communication, no significant efforts are devoted to the Pashtu Optical Character Recognition (POCR). We present a new approach for Pahstu handwritten numerals recognition (PHNR) based on deep neural networks.

Enhancing the efficiency of the crystalline silicon solar cell (c-Si SC) by coating the energy shifting layer with quantum dots (QDs) is a recent approach to efficiently utilize the high-energy spectrum of light. Carbon QDs are an attractive candidate for such applications; however, a small Stokes shift and nonuniform coating due to high aggregation are the bottlenecks to fully utilize their potential. For this purpose, here, we propose a layer-by-layer self-assembled uniform coating of eco-friendly red-emissive hollow nitrogen-doped carbon QDs (NR-CQDs) as an efficient energy-down-shifting layer.

Hypothesis: Non-wettable fabric surfaces with excellent mechanochemical robustness for practical applications have attracted much attention from researchers in recent years. However, such surfaces suffer from stability issues when exposed to harsh environments because of the weak bonding of the functional materials.

Experiments: A unique facile approach is proposed to enhance the adhesion strength and hydrophobicity by improving the hierarchal roughness and opposite charge attraction using alkali and cationized bovine serum albumin (cBSA) respectively.

Nitrogen-doped graphene quantum dots (NGQDs) are a diverse organic catalyst, competitive with other metallic catalysts due to their low cost, high stability, biocompatibility, and eco-friendliness. Highly functional multi-edge surfaces of NGQDs play a key role in imparting superb photocatalytic and electrocatalytic activity. However, when coating NGQDs by conventional techniques, such surfaces are not exposed for catalysis, due to the unwanted overlap of NGQDs sheets.

Article Synopsis
  • Researchers created antibacterial fibres made from psyllium, sodium alginate, and hydrolysed chitosan to explore their potential healthcare applications.
  • The study examined how different amounts of hydrolysed chitosan affected the fibres' physical properties and their ability to combat bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.
  • Results indicated that these new fibres were thicker and stronger than control fibres, with better antibacterial performance against Gram-positive bacteria, especially as the viscosity of the chitosan solution decreased.
