Modern photon counting detectors allow the calculation of virtual monoenergetic or material decomposed X-ray images but are not yet used for dental panoramic radiography systems. To assess the diagnostic potential and image quality of photon counting detectors in dental panoramic radiography, ethics approval from the local ethics committee was obtained for this retrospective study. Conventional CT scans of the head and neck region were segmented into bone and soft tissue.

Education in times of restriction: an examination of refugee girls' and young women's access to learning during COVID-19 school closures in Pakistan.

This paper examines the extent to which refugee girls and young women were able to access learning during COVID-19 education closures in Pakistan, and the role that EdTech played in their learning access. It is based on findings from a survey with 403 Afghan refugee students, along with in-depth interviews with six young female refugees. The research shows that, while the majority of female refugee students were able to continue accessing education in some form during school closures, learning access was nevertheless limited, and a sizable minority were not engaged in any learning during this time.

Comparison of Long-Term Complications of COVID-19 Illness among a Diverse Sample of Children by MIS-C Status.

Most pediatric COVID-19 cases are asymptomatic; however, a small number of children are diagnosed with multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C), a rare but severe condition that is associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection. Persistent symptoms of COVID-19 illness in children diagnosed with/without MIS-C is largely unknown. A retrospective EHR review of patients with COVID-19 illness from one pediatric healthcare system to assess the presence of acute (<30 days) and chronic (≥30, 60-120, and >120 days) long-term COVID symptoms was conducted.

Effectiveness of Antimicrobial Therapy after Extraction of Impacted Mandibular Third Molar: A Randomized Clinical Trial.

Aim: The present study was conducted with the aim of evaluating the effectiveness of antimicrobial therapy following extraction of an impacted mandibular third molar.

Materials And Methods: This randomized controlled trial was conducted on a total of 60 patients who were randomly assigned into three groups: Group I individuals were given 625 mg of combined amoxicillin and clavulanic acid tablet; 625 mg of combined amoxicillin and clavulanic acid tablet + 400 mg metronidazole tablet was given to group II individuals; whereas group III individuals were assigned no treatment. All the individuals underwent surgical extraction of impacted mandibular third molars under strict aseptic techniques, with minimal trauma to the surrounding tissues.

Effects of aging and hypoxia-inducible factor-1 activity on angiogenic cell mobilization and recovery of perfusion after limb ischemia.

Lead exposure in indoor firing ranges: environmental impact and health risk to the range users.

Health risk from airborne lead exposure were evaluated in 54 trainees and 31 firearm instructors at two indoor firing ranges in Amman, Jordan. Airborne lead concentration was measured during shooting sessions of conventional lead ammunition. Venous blood was collected from the trainees, instructors and controls.
