African-American (AA) men are more likely to develop lung cancer with higher incidence and mortality rates than European-American (EA) men. The aims of the present study were to: (i) quantify accelerations and decelerations of soccer players during match-play across two consecutive seasons from the English Premier League (EPL) and Ligue 1 (L1); and (ii) compare any positional differences between the two leagues. Tissue transglutaminase (TG2) is a multifunctional protein that can catalyze the cross-linking between proteins, and function as a G-protein. TG2's unregulated behaviour has been associated with fibrosis, celiac disease and cancer metastasis. Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) is one of the leading causes of young-onset dementia before age 65, typically manifesting as abnormal behavior (in behavioral variant FTD) or language impairment (in primary progressive aphasia). Although FTD affects all populations across the globe, knowledge regarding the pathophysiology and genetics derives primarily from studies conducted in North America and Western Europe. Animals combine colour change and behavioural choices to enhance concealment and adapt to changes in habitat in time and space. However, non-native and invasive habitat-forming plants and seaweeds can change the landscape, challenging animals to remain camouflaged, especially when the colour of the new habitat differs from the native backgrounds. Aim: To examine factors underlying why most, but not all, adults with obesity exhibit impaired insulin-mediated glucose uptake, we compared: (1) adipose tissue fatty acid (FA) release, (2) skeletal muscle lipid droplet (LD) characteristics, and (3) insulin signalling events, in skeletal muscle of adults with obesity with relatively high versus low insulin-mediated glucose uptake.

Methods: Seventeen adults with obesity (BMI: 36 ± 3 kg/m) completed a 2 h hyperinsulinemic-euglycemic clamp with stable isotope tracer infusions to measure glucose rate of disappearance (glucose Rd) and FA rate of appearance (FA Ra). Purpose: To evaluate the value of enhanced optometric services for managing neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) and glaucoma in primary care optometry services, instead of hospital eye services (HES).

Methods: Seven enhanced optometric service pathways in primary care in Wales were assessed with a mixed-methods approach: three for nAMD and four for glaucoma. Acute exposure to terrestrial altitude (hypobaric hypoxia) causes decrements in endurance performance relative to sea level. Altitude acclimatization consistently results in partial attenuation of these decrements, but due to logistical challenges, it is not readily implemented. We discuss mechanisms and impact (or lack thereof) of other non-acclimatization interventions to improve endurance performance and provide suggestions for future research directions.
