HD 89744 is an F7 V star with a mass of 1.4 M middle dot in circle, an effective temperature of 6166 K, an age of 2.0 Gyr, and metallicity &sqbl0;Fe&solm0;H&sqbr0;=0.

The Global Oscillation Network Group (GONG) Project.

Helioseismology requires nearly continuous observations of the oscillations of the solar surface for long periods of time in order to obtain precise measurements of the sun's normal modes of oscillation. The GONG project acquires velocity images from a network of six identical instruments distributed around the world. The GONG network began full operation in October 1995.

Developing optimum drug regimens.

In clinical pharmacological trials the determination of the optimum regimen for a drug using the technique of response surface analysis is proposed as being more advantageous than traditional analyses of dose response relationships. Major considerations in favour of this technique are that the optimum regimem can be identified with a minimum of human experimentation, and unacceptable regimens are eliminated from the study early, at a substantial saving of time and money.

PRONUCLEAR OVUM FROM A PATIENT USING AN INTRAUTERINE CONTRACEPTIVE DEVICE.

Ova were sought in the washings of the excised reproductive tracts of 48 patients after they had ovulated. From 24 patients using no contraceptives, two unfertilized ova were recovered. From 24 patients using intrauterine coils, one unfertilized and one fertilized pronuclear ovum were recovered.
