A search is reported for pairs of light Higgs bosons () produced in supersymmetric cascade decays in final states with small missing transverse momentum. A data set of LHC collisions collected with the CMS detector at and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 is used. The search targets events where both bosons decay into pairs that are reconstructed as large-radius jets using substructure techniques.

Article Synopsis
  • Scientists are trying to find chemical compounds that can stop the virus SARS-CoV-2 from making more copies of itself.
  • They use computers to analyze lots of data quickly, but it's important that the data they use is accurate, or they might get wrong results.
  • In their research, they found several promising compounds that can inhibit the virus's major protease (MPro) and even tested them in the lab to confirm they worked against SARS-CoV-2.

Over the last 34 months, at least 10 severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) distinct variants have evolved. Among these, some were more infectious while others were not. These variants may serve as candidates for identification of the signature sequences linked to infectivity and viral transgressions.

Coproantigen detection by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (coAg ELISA) is a vital tool for detecting and treating cases of Taenia solium taeniasis. However, the assay's procedures require costly materials and sophisticated equipment, which are typically inaccessible in rural settings where the disease is endemic. To overcome these barriers, we developed and evaluated a field-applicable coAg ELISA.

Since the development of the "cholinergic hypothesis" as an important therapeutic approach in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease (AD), the scientific community has made a remarkable effort to discover new and effective molecules with the ability to inhibit the enzyme acetylcholinesterase (AChE). The natural function of this enzyme is to catalyze the hydrolysis of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine in the brain. Thus, its inhibition increases the levels of this neurochemical and improves the cholinergic functions in patients with AD alleviating the symptoms of this neurological disorder.

For abortion seekers, Peru is an uncaring state where legal and policy interventions have resulted in violence, persecution, and neglect. This state of abortion uncare is set within historic and ongoing denials of reproductive autonomy, coercive reproductive care, and the marginalisation of abortion. Abortion is not supported, even where legally permissible.

Previous descriptions of (Linstow, 1892) show that specimens vary greatly in the proportions of different body structures, measurements of females and males, number of rows of hooks, and egg measurements, among other features. We redescribe this species from specimens found in southern elephant seal faeces from King George Island. We also provide a molecular characterization, in addition to 5.

The consequences of aneuploidy have traditionally been studied in cell and animal models in which the extrachromosomal DNA is from the same species. Here, we explore a fundamental question concerning the impact of aneuploidy on systemic metabolism using a non-mosaic transchromosomic mouse model (TcMAC21) carrying a near-complete human chromosome 21. Independent of diets and housing temperatures, TcMAC21 mice consume more calories, are hyperactive and hypermetabolic, remain consistently lean and profoundly insulin sensitive, and have a higher body temperature.

Objective: Major depressive disorder (MDD) is one of the most prevalent and debilitating health conditions worldwide; unfortunately, many patients do not respond to traditional antidepressant medication or talk therapy approaches. Deep transcranial magnetic stimulation (Deep TMS) has emerged as an effective treatment option for such "treatment-resistant" cases; however, the mechanisms by which Deep TMS attenuates depressive symptoms are still ambiguous.

Methods: In the current study, resting-state quantitative electroencephalography (QEEG) measures were assessed pre-and-post treatment to illustrate neurophysiological changes resulting from Deep TMS.

Arthropod-borne virus (arbovirus) and arthropod-specific virus (ASV) are viruses circulating amongst hematophagous arthropods that are broadly transmitted in ecological systems. Arbovirus may replicate in both vertebrates and invertebrates and some are known to be pathogenic to animals or humans. ASV only replicate in invertebrate arthropods yet they are basal to many types of arboviruses.

The streptothricin natural product mixture (also known as nourseothricin) was discovered in the early 1940s, generating intense initial interest because of excellent gram-negative activity. Here, we establish the activity spectrum of nourseothricin and its main components, streptothricin F (S-F, 1 lysine) and streptothricin D (S-D, 3 lysines), purified to homogeneity, against highly drug-resistant, carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales (CRE) and Acinetobacter baumannii. For CRE, the MIC50 and MIC90 for S-F and S-D were 2 and 4 μM, and 0.

This cross-sectional study compared optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) parameters between older Black and White adults with systemic comorbidities in an effort to further understand racial differences in the retinal microvasculature. We analyzed vessel density at the superficial (SCP), intermediate (ICP), and deep capillary plexuses (DCP), foveal avascular zone (FAZ) parameters, and blood flow area (BFA) at the choriocapillaris. We used a mixed-effects linear regression model, controlling for hypertension and two eyes from the same subject, to compare OCTA parameters.

Covalent peptidomimetic protease inhibitors have gained a lot of attention in drug development in recent years. They are designed to covalently bind the catalytically active amino acids through electrophilic groups called warheads. Covalent inhibition has an advantage in terms of pharmacodynamic properties but can also bear toxicity risks due to non-selective off-target protein binding.

Multiplexed imaging technology using antibody barcoding with oligonucleotides, which sequentially detects multiple epitopes in the same tissue section, is an effective methodology for tumor evaluation that improves the understanding of the tumor microenvironment. The visualization of protein expression in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues is achieved when a specific fluorophore is annealed to an antibody-bound barcode via complementary oligonucleotides and then sample imaging is performed; indeed, this method allows for the use of customizable panels of more than 40 antibodies in a single tissue staining reaction. This method is compatible with fresh frozen tissue, formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue, cultured cells, and peripheral blood mononuclear cells, meaning that researchers can use this technology to view a variety of sample types at single-cell resolution.
