The proliferation of AI-powered bots and sophisticated fraudsters poses a significant threat to the integrity of scientific studies reliant on online surveys across diverse disciplines, including health, social, environmental and political sciences. We found a substantial decline in usable responses from online surveys from 75 to 10% in recent years due to survey fraud. Monetary incentives attract sophisticated fraudsters capable of mimicking genuine open-ended responses and verifying information submitted months prior, showcasing the advanced capabilities of online survey fraud today.

Caregivers with an autistic child often experience stigma, which can lead to detrimental mental health consequences. Affiliate stigma is the internalization of, and psychological responses to, stigma experienced due to an individual's association with a person who is stigmatized. Social support has been shown to mediate the relationship between affiliate stigma and depression in caregivers of special needs children.

Purpose: Although participating in research is often presented as something that can 'help others in the future', research participants may also benefit from accessing and understanding their own research data. However, participant attitudes toward receiving individual data via research reports are under researched. This study examined participant perceptions of research reports within the context of the pilot phase of the Pediatric Autism Research Cohort (PARC) Study.

Purpose Of Review: While multidisciplinary collaboration is a tenant of quality heart failure care and critical to the success of transplant programs, this essay challenges the temptation to shoehorn adult congenital heart disease (ACHD) patients into preexisting processes and paradigms. We explore the development of more relevant models, purposefully designed to improve ACHD transplant volumes and outcomes.

Recent Findings: Globally, the rapid acceleration of ACHD patients living with and dying from HF stands in stark contrast to their access to transplant.

The number of children and adolescents presenting to hospitals with mental health conditions has increased markedly over the past decade. A dearth of pediatric mental health resources prevents delivering definitive psychiatric care to this population at many hospitals; thus, children and adolescents must wait at a medical facility until appropriate psychiatric care becomes available (an experience described as psychiatric "boarding"). Clinicians caring for youth experiencing psychiatric boarding report inadequate training and resources to provide high-quality care to this population, and patients and caregivers describe significant frustration with the current standard of care.

Background: In descriptive epidemiology, there are strong similarities between incidence and survival analyses. Because of the success of multidimensional penalized splines (MPSs) in incidence analysis, we propose in this pedagogical paper to show that MPSs are also very suitable for survival or net survival studies.

Methods: The use of MPSs is illustrated in cancer epidemiology in the context of survival trends studies that require specific statistical modelling.

Background: Informal carers of terminally ill patients play a vital role in providing palliative care at home, which impacts on their pre- and post-death bereavement experience and presents an up to 50% greater risk for mental-health problems. However, developing and implementing effective bereavement support remains challenging. There is a need to build the evidence base for music therapy as a potentially promising bereavement support for this vulnerable population.

Autism spectrum disorder is characterized by social communication difficulties and social skills abilities that are significantly differ from neurotypical populations as well as restricted and repetitive behaviors and interests. Furthermore, many autistic youth experience co-occurring conditions, with one of the most common being depression. This depression is suggested to be, in part, the result of the relative social isolation experienced by autistic youth.

Background And Aims: Guidelines regarding social cognitive interventions for autistic children suggest incorporating a holistic approach. This includes increasing the family's understanding of difficulties associated with autism, integrations of natural environments, and parents as active agents in the intervention while being supported for their well-being. The current availability of holistic parent-implemented interventions for autistic children is limited, with no qualitative understanding of how parents view the benefits for themselves or their children.
