The surfaces on which neurons grow greatly affect neurite elongation, but it is unclear how substrates influence the events within the growth cone that bring about elongation. Neurite elongation by Aplysia californica neurons in culture occurs through a series of transformations of the structures of the growth cone (Goldberg and Burmeister, J. Cell Biol.

We studied 22 patients: all of them with hypertension and/or skin ulcerations, dropping out those who had venous. They were evaluated periodically, clinically and with photoelectric plethysmography of lower extremities.

This case is unique in that mucin was demonstrated in the muscle as well as the skin, and spontaneous resolution of the rhabdomyolysis occurred with the implementation of IV fluids and bed rest.

These two pathways differ in the temporal regulation of exocytosis. Proteins secreted by the regulated pathway are stored in dense-core granules until release is stimulated by secretagogues.

The rostral pars distalis of male tilapia was incubated singly in a hypotonic modified Krebs-Ringer bicarbonate medium in order to stimulate PRL release; for comparison, the proximal pars distalis containing growth hormone (GH) cells was incubated in isotonic medium with or without 1 microgram/ml cortisol to stimulate GH release. The release of both PRLs and GH into the medium was measured by sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS)--polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis followed by densitometry.

The author reviews four methods for conducting task groups, including problem solving, brainstorming , nominal group technique, and social judgment analysis. The strengths and weaknesses of each method are analyzed, and some suggestions are made for selecting a method that addresses the needs and purposes of particular groups.
