The farm to fork continuum of microgreens and sprouts has some overlap in terms of production, physical characteristics, and consumption. This approach produces spectra similar to those obtained by the Aerodyne aerosol mass spectrometer (AMS), but the ratios of the mass to charge (m/z) signals differ and must be remeasured using laboratory-generated standards. Linear relationships are found between TOA-QMS signals and ammonium (NH), nitrate (NO), and sulfate (SO) standards.

CCCTC-binding factor activates PARP-1 affecting DNA methylation machinery.

Our previous data have shown that in L929 mouse fibroblasts the control of methylation pattern depends in part on poly(ADP-ribosyl)ation and that ADP-ribose polymers (PARs), both present on poly(ADP-ribosyl)ated PARP-1 and/or protein-free, have an inhibitory effect on Dnmt1 activity. Here we show that transient ectopic overexpression of CCCTC-binding factor (CTCF) induces PAR accumulation, PARP-1, and CTCF poly(ADP-ribosyl)ation in the same mouse fibroblasts. The persistence in time of a high PAR level affects the DNA methylation machinery; the DNA methyltransferase activity is inhibited with consequences for the methylation state of genome, which becomes diffusely hypomethylated affecting centromeric minor satellite and B1 DNA repeats.

The bactericidal activities of macrolides (clarithromycin, roxithromycin and azithromicyn) and lansoprazole, alone and in combination, against Helicobacter pylori strains were evaluated. Specificity and protective activity of murine monoclonal antibodies directed against the capsular polysaccharide of type III group B streptococci.

We have obtained 41 monoclonal antibodies directed against type III group B streptococci by immunizing Balb/c mice with formalin-killed bacteria. All of these antibodies reacted with purified type-specific carbohydrate by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and immunoprecipitation tests. The epitope recognized by all of these antibodies was associated with terminal sialic acid residues, as indicated by abrogation of immune reactions by treatment of the type-specific carbohydrate with neuraminidase.

Long-term analgesic reaction in attacked mice.

Four experiments were designed to characterize long-term analgesic (LTA) reaction in attacked mice. In Experiment 1 we showed that analgesic reaction in DBA mice, induced by the stress of being attacked (30 or 50 bites), is reinstated upon reexposure to seven bites 24 hr later. The magnitude of the LTA response depended on the level of analgesia on Day 1 and was smaller than the original response.
