Health-related quality of life in people with HIV from the multicentre CoRIS cohort in Spain: Associated factors and short-term changes over time.

Objectives: We aimed to describe health-related quality of life (HRQoL), overall and across its dimensions, identify associated factors, and assess changes over time among people with HIV (PWH) from the Spanish multicentre CoRIS cohort.

Methods: We developed a mobile app to collect HRQoL data every 3 months using the WHOQOL-HIV-BREF questionnaire (31 items across six domains), among PWH followed in CoRIS in 2021-2023. Factors associated with good/very good global HRQoL and with domain-specific mean scores were identified using multivariable logistic and linear regression, respectively.

Should we measure quality of life among people with HIV? A multicentre survey of physicians' opinions in Spain.

Objectives: We assessed the opinions of physicians caring for people with HIV (PWH) from the multicentre Spanish CoRIS cohort regarding the assessment of health-related quality of life (HRQoL).

Methods: We designed an online self-administered questionnaire comprising 27 structured questions across four domains: (i) sociodemographic and clinical data; (ii) usefulness of measuring HRQoL; (iii) information, training and resource needed; and (iv) whether and how HRQoL should be measured. Efficacy and safety of colistin plus beta-lactams for bone and joint infection caused by fluoroquinolone-resistant gram-negative bacilli: a prospective multicenter study.

Objectives: The prognosis of bone and joint infections (BJI) caused by Gram-negative bacilli (GNB) worsens significantly in the face of fluoroquinolone-resistance. In this setting, scarce pre-clinical and clinical reports suggest that intravenous beta-lactams plus colistin may improve outcome. Our aim was to assess the efficacy and safety of this treatment in a well-characterized prospective cohort.

Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is the main cause of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and progresses faster in males than in females. We identify sex-based differences in kidney metabolism and in the blood metabolome of male and female individuals with diabetes. Primary human proximal tubular epithelial cells (PTECs) from healthy males displayed increased mitochondrial respiration, oxidative stress, apoptosis, and greater injury when exposed to high glucose compared with PTECs from healthy females.

Prevalence of hepatic steatosis and fibrosis in apparently healthy airline pilots: A transient elastography study.

Background And Aim: Airline pilots (APs) are often characterized by a sedentary lifestyle, predisposing them to adverse cardiometabolic consequences. In this cross-sectional study, we used transient elastography (TE) to investigate the prevalence of hepatic steatosis and fibrosis among apparently healthy APs.

Materials And Methods: The study cohort consisted of 137 male APs of Caucasian descent who voluntarily underwent TE.

Skin biophysical parameters and serum dermokine levels in airline pilots: a comparative study with office workers.

Introduction: Concerns are growing in the aviation industry about occupational skin diseases like malignant melanoma (MM) among airline pilots (APs), due to the unique working environment that exposes them to various skin stressors.

Aim: To compare five skin biophysical parameters in a group of 40 male APs, each matched in terms of age and service tenure (minimum of 5 years) with a control group of 40 male office workers (OWs). Considering the potential role of dermokine (DMKN) in skin barrier dysfunction and the pathogenesis of MM, we further analyzed the serum levels of this molecule and correlated them with the measured skin parameters.

Dynamics of HLA and angiotensin II type 1 receptor antibodies during pregnancy.

Background: Alloantibodies, especially anti-human leukocyte antigen antibodies (HLA antibodies), and autoantibodies, as angiotensin II type 1 receptor antibodies (AT1R antibodies), may complicate the access and the course of transplantation. Pregnancy is a known source of HLA antibodies, with most studies evaluating pregnancy-induced sensitization by complement-dependent cytotoxicity assays, mainly after childbirth. AT1R antibodies have been evaluated in the context of preeclampsia.

Skin lesions by Scedosporium apiospermum and Nocardia pulmonary infection in an oncologic patient: a case report.

MBX: A many-body energy and force calculator for data-driven many-body simulations.

Many-Body eXpansion (MBX) is a C++ library that implements many-body potential energy functions (PEFs) within the "many-body energy" (MB-nrg) formalism.
