The purpose of this preliminary study was to explore Saskatchewan Registered Dietitians' perceived knowledge, comfort, and access to resources in supporting Muslims who choose to fast during Ramadan. An online anonymous survey was distributed to Saskatchewan dietitians from January 31 to February 22, 2022. Quantitative data analysis was employed using Microsoft Excel.

Endomyocardial biopsy (EMB), although considered the gold standard for rejection surveillance, is invasive and has high interobserver variability. Noninvasive donor-derived cell-free DNA (dd-cfDNA) sampling has a high negative predictive value (NPV) for rejection in adults and is increasingly used in pediatrics.

Purpose Of Review: This article highlights the most recent advances in a review of the current literature in the field of pediatric heart failure and transplantation.
Recent Findings: Diagnostically, the identification of new genetic factors has contributed to a deeper understanding of cardiomyopathy in children. Novel medications like sacubitril/valsartan and Sodium-Glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitors, which are now standard in the adult population are being studied in pediatric population and offer new promise of pediatric heart failure treatment.
Women seeking to work in horticulture in the early twentieth century were the beneficiaries of developments put in motion by the late nineteenth-century women's rights movement. From the 1860s, feminists and social reformers in Europe and America promoted the opening of higher education to women. After success on this front, by 1900, women's advocates pushed for expanding work opportunities suitable for middle-class women, including in horticulture.

We aim to demonstrate PCQLI responsiveness in children undergoing arrhythmia ablation, heart transplantation, and valve surgery before and after cardiac intervention.
Methods: Pediatric cardiac patients 8-18 years of age from 11 centers undergoing arrhythmia ablation, heart transplantation, or valve surgery were enrolled.
Background: There is no FDA-approved left ventricular assist device (LVAD) for smaller children permitting routine hospital discharge. Smaller children supported with LVADs typically remain hospitalized for months awaiting heart transplant-a major burden for families and a challenge for hospitals. We describe the initial outcomes of the Jarvik 2015, a miniaturized implantable continuous flow LVAD, in the NHLBI-funded Pumps for Kids, Infants, and Neonates (PumpKIN) study, for bridge-to-heart transplant.

This article underscores the role of detailed patient history and physical examinations, including prompt endoscopic evaluation, for accurate differentiation between esophageal and oropharyngeal dysphagia. The authors discuss the heightened importance of early intervention in certain patient groups, such as elderly individuals and patients with head and neck cancer, to mitigate the risk of malnutrition and infection.

Methods: Observational, non-interventional, prospective study enrolled pediatric and adult heart transplant recipients from seven centers. Biopsy-associated plasma samples were used for cfDNA measurements.
Background: Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the mortality of critically ill patients remained high. Our group developed a treatment regimen targeting sepsis and ARDS which we labeled "triple therapy" consisting of (1) corticosteroids, (2) therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE), and (3) timely intubation with lung protective ventilation. Our propensity analysis assesses the impact of triple therapy on survival in COVID-19 patients with sepsis and ARDS.

Objectives: To understand how people with newly acquired spinal cord injury (PWS) and their support person (SP) define recovery and successful community reintegration (CR) across the first 12 months post-injury (mpi) and their satisfaction with the rate of recovery and reintegration experienced.
Setting: Academic and Veterans hospitals in Midwest USA.
Background: Septal reduction therapy via septal myectomy or a modified Konno procedure is the mainstay of therapy for drug-refractory obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), although outcomes data on septal myectomy in pediatric patients are limited. We evaluated long-term outcomes following surgery for obstructive HCM in a pediatric cohort.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed patients age ≤18 years with obstructive HCM who underwent a left and/or right ventricular septal myectomy at our institution between 1992 and 2022.
In plants, melatonin (MLT) is a versatile signaling molecule involved in promoting plant development and mitigating the damage caused by heavy metal exposure. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are essential components in the plant's response to various abiotic stress, functioning within the gene regulatory network. Here, a hydroponic experiment was performed to explore the involvement of lncRNAs in MLT-mediated amelioration of cadmium (Cd) toxicity in rice plants.

Purpose: Although waitlist mortality is unacceptably high, nearly half of donor heart offers are rejected by pediatric heart transplant centers. The Advanced Cardiac Therapy Improving Outcome Network (ACTION) and Pediatric Heart Transplant Society (PHTS) convened a multi-institutional donor decision discussion forum (DDDF) aimed at assessing donor acceptance practices and reducing practice variation.
Methods: A 1-h-long virtual DDDF for providers across North America, the United Kingdom, and Brazil was held monthly.
The Fontan Udenafil Exercise Longitudinal (FUEL) trial showed that treatment with udenafil was associated with improved exercise performance at the ventilatory anaerobic threshold in children with Fontan physiology. However, it is not known how the initiation of phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitor therapy affects heart rate and blood pressure in this population. These data may help inform patient selection and monitoring after the initiation of udenafil therapy.

Background: Heart failure results in significant morbidity and mortality for young children with hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) following the Norwood procedure. The trajectory in later childhood is not well described.
Methods: We studied the outcome into adolescence of participants enrolled in the Single Ventricle Reconstruction trial who underwent the Fontan procedure or survived to 6 years without having undergone Fontan procedure.
Background: The Pediatric Heart Transplant Society (PHTS) Registry was founded 30 years ago as a collaborative effort among like-minded providers of this novel life-saving technique for children with end-stage heart failure. In the intervening decades, the data from the Registry have provided invaluable knowledge to the field of pediatric heart transplantation. This report of the PHTS Registry provides a comprehensive look at the data, highlighting both the longevity of the registry and one unique aspect of the PHTS registry, allowing for exploration into children with single ventricle anatomy.

We reviewed the national discard rate of pediatric and young adult (aged 25 years or younger) donor grafts to estimate the number of hearts potentially available to source valve allotransplantation.
Methods: We queried the United Network for Organ Sharing database to identify pediatric and young adult heart donors from 1987 to 2022.
Self-blame for past sexual behaviors or for the personal character may be associated with the development of cervical cancer. Aims were to understand the burden of self-blame attribution (SBA) among women with cervical cancer by (1) examining relationships between SBA, psychological distress (PD), and spiritual well-being (SWB); (2) determining differences between behavioral (BSB) and characterological self-blame (CSB) attribution; and (3) describing associations between SBA and unwanted past sexual experiences. Women attending a cancer center in the southeastern United Stats ( = 106) completed an online survey including a demographic questionnaire and three instruments: (1) SBA for Cancer Scale; (2) Psychological Distress Subscale of the Psychological Adjustment to Cancer Scale-Self Report; and (3) Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Spiritual Well-being.

Treatment of -Ru(dmso)Cl in acetone at 56 °C with different 1,4-diazabutadienes [-XCHN[double bond, length as m-dash]C(H)(H)C[double bond, length as m-dash]NCHX-; X = H, CH, OCH, and Cl; abbreviated as DAB-X], gives -Ru[κ-,-DAB-X]Cl as the kinetic product of substitution. Heating these products in -xylene at 144 °C gives the thermodynamically favored -Ru[κ-,-DAB-X]Cl isomers.
